My own grow weed doesn't get me high

Curious on how a microwave “ dries “ when it superheats its core … would think a simple bud laying out in ambient air would dry it out over a little time.

Or maybe a toaster oven ( dry / decarb )

So far I've always harvested the same strains and just smoked it until it's gone. If I'm not mistaken, you're saying that I need to add variety. I can only make this variety by growing more than one strain.

True enough or if you are in a legal state, you can go to a dispensary and buy a couple prerolls. If they knock you down, you are probably just burnt out on your own flowers. It’s not because your stuff is weak. You have to vary the chemical profile a little bit, that’s all.

How big is your grow space ?

I believe your light is recommended for 3 x 3 ?

Have you ever measured par ?

Might just not be reaching their full potential... Lots of variables, ie., medium/pot size/nutrients/ventilation, etc.

As to when to harvest, I like to see the majority of the pistils turn color And recede.

Then I will look at the trichomes on a number of buds, I aim for the majority to be cloudy/white. A few amber doesn't hurt !

Nothing wrong with the potency of auto flowers.

I "thought" I would see if what was left of the King Gelato auto in my bong was done, it was two hours later before I could start to cook supper ;)

Cheers

I don’t have the patience to wait a week. The microwave is crude but quick and reasonably effective if you are in a hurry.

If you go to a dispensary and the pre rolls knock you down please share the dispo( lol) and I would say that’s a pretty good sign of your flower being weak. I do agree with the varying your medicine part in most cases though.

When I can't wait for the full dry/cure I will cut up a lesser bud with scissors and place it between paper towels on a plate. Put it away on the counter and "fluff" it up every eight hours or so.

Usually dry enough to test in two days...

Damn no wonder people get cranky on these forums. The guy says he's been growing and smoking the same three autos for three years and your intelligent prognosis is: harvest too early? That's the most brain-dead conclusion I'd read on this board.

OP: 1. Stop growing autos. Auto is cannabis' retarded, drooling family member.
2. Have several strains on rotation, if you smoke everyday do not smoke the same strain longer than a week. I'd like to have 6 - 7 high quality strains that I can cycle through.
3. If those two fails, grow pure sativa's. No they don't take 6 months to flower unless you're N idiot and grow unworked landrace indoor. Ace seeds have well worked sativa's that only take 11-14 weeks to flower, a little longer yes, but most are enormous yielders and the high last 3 hours+. This is your key to trippy weed. Add a few of landrace, pure sativa's to your rotation.

It could be shit genetics that you are running. I've been smoking heavily for over 3 decades now and have done my own grows now and then.
My experience was that the bag seeds I used to collect from all the nice skunk buds in the 90s grew out fire. Pretty much every plant got you nice and stoned, nice head high, munchies etc..
Ive picked up growing over the last decade and have found... Cuttings I managed to get that was a good strain all got you stoned.
Ive also ran quite a few bought seeds from alot of the popular breeders, some not so popular.
What I found was you are lucky to get that I keeper that has real potency. Out of around 15 packs, I seriously havnt found 1 that I wanted to keep around for a while. Most looked fantastic and frosty asf. But just didnt get me that stoned.
I think if you had someone with a known cutting of a good strain, you'd find that you will grow weed that gets you stoned.

I know some people will say this is a horrible thing but in my opinion it’s perfectly okay to cut off a flower and zap it in a microwave to dry it out and smoke and see if it is stony enough. I personally can’t tell a damn thing from squinting at trichomes through a magnifying glass. I was told here “never base a chop on a smoke test!” Why not? If you have a plant that “looks” like it is ready and the flowers get you high, what’s the harm in pulling the trigger? I am talking about people growing for their own personal use and spending their own money to do it, not someone trying to turn a big profit with investor financing.
I agree with some people. That’s horrible.

People love to hate on autos. Just say you can't grow from start to finish with no problems. I'm sort of kidding, :p

No it's not a brain dead conclusion. It's a very common reason people grow shitty weed and then blame genetics. All you have to do is see the pictures of plants people are harvesting weeks too early which are all over this forum and every other cannabis forum that exists.

I don't care for autos but I have grown them and they have always gotten me high. Most were crappy freebie genetics tossed in on seed orders and they still got me high.

It doesn't matter if the OP has been growing the same auto strains for three years. That just means they have probably been harvesting too early for three years.

Before you start calling people brain dead you might want to think about actually using yours.

I'm growing an auto for fun in addition to my photos. My buddy called me an idiot and said I am "ruining the art" whatever tf that means. I'm having fun watching it grow and start flowering on day 24 so I don't know what to tell people lol

I'm with the you harvested early crowd. Trichomes can lie to you. If you look at the wrong spot on the plant for trichomes they will be amber you will think you should chop, trichomes can go amber if you touch them, too strong of a wind.... amber in some areas.

Trichomes are not a good way to guage ripeness

We need pics to confirm. Do you have pics of the bud? Pics of the plant?
Honestly, all I thought about when harvesting was that every thricom was milky. Because I thought amber only brought sleep.
I also think like you now.
Triches are just one of many pieces of harvest puzzle - too many growers shoot themselves in foot trying to ‘ gauge’ ripeness by amber vs cloudiness crap. As you become more garden savvy , you will know ripeness without scoping. Many growers here have moved beyond this .

Study actual harvest ready pics. You will see flowers differently.
You are right. As my experience grows, I will know when to harvest. I haven't asked anyone before, I don't even know anyone who smokes cannabis around me. I love growing cannabis, this is my favorite hobby. I will definitely look into the harvest photographs. Thank you for your advice.
It also helps to take some samples at week intervals on your first run( or two/3 )with something since not everything matures at the same rate even in your own space. These plants are unique to each other and you do have to kind of learn them so to speak. Then you’ll know for sure, for sure.
I'm sorry, no photographs of the plants. As I said I will post photos before I harvest my next plant.

I tried very hard to make everything perfect and even on my first plant. Sometimes I forget that the person in front of me is a plant. Thanks for the information.

Frankly, I get more pleasure when I wait until the end. If I cut it before it's ripe, I'm afraid I won't be able to stop.

The higher CBD found in autoflowers can calm the highs down.

If you’re not getting stoned you’re doing it wrong tho…

The highs are not as trippy as photoperiods generally speaking. Saying that RocBud Slurricane put some photoperiods to shame in terms of potency. Shit was nuts lol

But sounds like you want a more intense high so grow some photoperiods :)

This is a waste. You nuke the trichomes, dry it way too fast and force it to taste like shit.

You will never get a proper guage like this.
