How to not fuck up

Find a basic grow guide, there’s a whole bunch, most of them fine. READ THE WHOLE THING and follow the god damn instructions.

Turn off that part of your brain that wants to do it’s own(probably fucking stupid) thing and make changes. You learn a skill by starting at and sticking to the basics.

Swtg half the new grower issues would be solved if they just did the god damned reading. Something’s I get needing help with, sizing ac, ventilation, environmental optimization, that shit can be overwhelming and expensive when you start and can remain frustrating even with experience. A key lesson (and one I learned the hard way) only size your grow to the parameters you can maintain. up to a 4x4 in a normal home environment and there’s not much kit you gotta buy outside of the basics.

Yeah and 19yrs experience help lol but I was on gc like 10yrs then came over here when it died. Like others said just find a technique or grow journal you like and copy them till you get the gist
Yeah I’ve been doing this for a minute now, way behind you though lol, I’m just kind of venting about the influx of really fucking stupid questions I’ve been noticing lately.

You can be self proclaimed pro scientist based on what you have read in the books or on the net (we already have bunch of them here), but the real run is way different than theory. Reading is supplemental and it will never substitute the real growing practice. Keep it growin and learn from your mistakes which take place in your environment, together with reading right articles on good websites not the bullshits on seed or fertilizer selling websites.

Spend the least amount of money possible starting off, start as basic as possible and work your way into trying new stuff instead of trying to do it all at once. Enjoy the process, expect issues, have fun you're married to your grow now.

Oh and take notes on EVERYTHING date it, take pictures keep a good record of everything so you can go back and see what changed or what worked worse or better etc..

So wait a second you’re telling me that there are instructions on how to do this I thought we were just playing it by ear and doing it as we go and I thought I was some kind of plant scientist or something. Lol I totally agree following instructions taking criticism and info and utilizing the common sense from said information will get you a lot farther then thinking your a plant whisperer reinventing how plants grow

The easiest way to start IMO is simple. For instance, my goal is to eventually grow in organic soil full of microbes. But for the first time, I'm keeping it simple. Bought two cheap tent kits from amazon to be able to have a decent environment right off the bat. I used Foxfarm soil and nutrients even though I want to do organic later I wanted to start with something known to work decently. From there, I follow a basic water/feed schedule with 1/2 strength nutes to be safe. My photos are in their 6th week of flower and my auto in its 4th week of life and I have had very few issues. Long story short: take the shortest route to good environment, light, and care (i.e. following a journal or tek). Take good care of them, but learn to leave them be as much as possible. Then when I/you get better, move on to more complex things.
