Yesterday's Mass Shooting.

I found a surprising amount of “humor” in a similar vein. I’m guessing Waldo is fed up with everyone incessantly finding him.

I guess it‘s never ”too soon” for humor, or a reason not to deal with things through humor but I see a lot of posts and “news” talking about the outfit, while the really crazy thing in those pictures isn’t the outfit but the gun.

CRIME
More than 220 shot and killed in U.S. gun violence over July 4 holiday weekend
This is just incomprehensible to me.

i fucking live here and cannot understand why the fucking government doesn't take some real action...are we really being held hostage by the mentally deficient minority for fucks sake?

We’re being held hostage by the dominionist (toxic evangelical) minority, with states’ rights as the weapon.
call the cocksuckers what you will, they've gotten way the fuck out of hand and need to be dealt with.
the way to deal with this shit is to just make it the way it has to be. no more constitutional carry, no more person to person sales, every weapon has to be registered, and limited ammo sales...no one has a need for thousands of rounds of fucking ammo, fucking no one.
make ghost guns and shit like that so fucking illegal that the consequences will only be worth it to the hardest cases, and they'll deserve what they get...they could have done this shit in gentle stages, but they just let it fucking go, because that was easier than dealing with it, so now they got this horrendous fuck story to deal with.

no more person to person sales, every weapon has to be registered, and limited ammo sales...no one has a need for thousands of rounds of fucking ammo, fucking no one.
I bought a gun off of a RCMP officer, person to person sales is fine if the guns are registered. On the thousands of rounds of ammo, I have six different calibers of ammunition, in .22 I have 4-5 boxes of 500 (not going to bother running downstairs to check) that I picked up before the shortage we had up here a number of years ago. Could easily go through 100 rounds of .22 a night of target shooting. Also used to shoot 50 of a larger caliber along with the 22. Anyone serious about target shooting will reload their own ammunition (except 22's). You set up your reloading press for a caliber and then run off what you want. Not unusual to do a thousand of one caliber as you need to adjust the press when switching to other calibers. When I was shooting I could have a couple of thousand large caliber rounds.

But I was a legitimate sport shooter, competed a few times but was not passionate enough to be more than in the middle of the pack. That would have taken 2-3 times more practice than my two times a week. Just did not care that much. Gave up shooting but thinking about it would not mind picking up a .22 rifle to get out in the countryside.

i'm not talking about 22 rounds, ffs...no one goes on a fucking killing spree with a 22...
if you want to buy AND fire 1000s of rounds in a single sitting, knock yourself out, you just don't get to carry more than 100 rounds of it out of the firing range with you.
and person to person sales in the U.S. are not fine, they're practically never of a registered weapon, and if it is, the buyer isn't going to register fuck all...
you can go to a gun show in half the states in America and buy any gun you want, and not show i.d., just build a fucking arsenal piece by piece, with no record of it what so ever.
that has to fucking end...

i'm feeling kind of bad for Joe. he's fucking trying to make it a better country, and having to deal with the fucking obstructionist fuckface republicans, 2 traitor democrats, a hostile press that can't print a decent story about him if their fucking useless lives depended on it, and now his own goddamn party is at it? what do the fuckers expect him to do? wave his motherfucking fairy wand and make the bad guns go away? are they not fucking aware of the limitations he is operating under? is he supposed to get a fucking megaphone and walk up and down in front of the white house 23 hours a goddamn day shouting about how much republicans and guns suck?
fucking democratic cunts need to wake the fuck up and start working on shit that can actually happen, not ridiculous dreams that will get shot the fuck down by the republicans the second they come into view.
this is becoming a fight for the life of democracy...don't get side tracked by petty personal desires.

Not being able to leave with more than 100 rounds does not make sense as you have to bring your ammo to the range. and what if your shooting is off that day? You still have 200 rounds in your bag, give them away? As far as sales I said person to person sales would be fine if the guns were registered. That way you can not hide the sale. Also a person that buys a gun needs to have a license to be able to buy guns. We have the RCMP do background checks on us and we have to renew our licenses after a number of years. The free for all you have is ridiculous.

Police: July 4 mass shooting thwarted in Virginia’s capital
Police in Richmond, Virginia, said Wednesday that they thwarted a planned July 4 mass shooting after receiving a tip that led to arrests and the seizure of multiple guns — an announcement that came just two days after a deadly mass shooting on the holiday in a Chicago suburb.

Authorities announced the alleged plot in a news release, but did not release any additional information. Chief Gerald Smith planned a news conference for Wednesday afternoon.

A spokesperson for the police department did not immediately respond to a call seeking additional details of the planned shooting.

you're talking about an open firing range, which aren't that common around here, you can and do bring your own ammo here, but you can also buy it at the range. there are only two gun ranges within 50 miles of me, one is a private club you have to at least know a member of who will give you a key, or you go to Bud's gun range, which is an indoor range attached to a large gun shop...
knoxville is the same, the only outdoor ranges are private, you have to be an elk or a moose of w/e, or there are two indoor ranges attached to gun shops...that's it, and there is no place "out in the woods" here that you can go shoot, everything is within the county, and the sheriffs will come shut you down if they hear it or get reports.
and...we're getting back to that thing of "if it's inconvenient for me, it has to be bad...so fucking what if your off today? does that justify changing the rules so psychopaths can buy massive amounts of ammo in preparation for a mass murder? isn't it better that you be slightly inconvenienced than a bunch of kids get murdered while attending classes?

"Also a person that buys a gun needs to have a license to be able to buy guns. We have the RCMP do background checks on us and we have to renew our licenses after a number of years. The free for all you have is ridiculous."
yes, it is ridiculous, and that is why i say person to person sales have to stop, they are not regulated in any way...this is fucking Tombstone, partner, not Ottowa

I used to be a member of a private gun range here, indoor and outdoor shooting. You could not but ammo there, I am guessing that is the norm here. We do not have gun ranges attached to places that sell guns or ammo. We still do have a couple of municipalities withing 50 miles that you can go out and shoot, at least when I checked pre-covid.

On the inconvenient part. You said you can not leave with more than 100 rounds. But it is OK to come with 500. That does not make sense, the person still can have 500 rounds with them. It is nothing to do with being inconvenient. Also unless you need a license to buy ammo (you do here) and the amount you buy is tracked and you have enough manpower to go checking up on people. Say I buy a box of 50 one day and the next find that Bud's Guns and Tackle is having a sale where I buy another 100. With 150 that is twice the amount of shots fired by the jerk-off on the weekend. Anybody can collect a whole bunch of ammunition given time if they wanted. So I buy a box every month, no way to know if I used them up unless you have to return the spent shells.
