2x4 tent shenanigans

Lol last night I had my first major fuck up since growing indoors. Went to train a bit as stretch is in full swing. The bottom branches were getting slightly woody and took a bit of rolling and punching to bend. Move to the top two nodes where it was topped and I didn't expect them to be so pliable still (don't know why I expected them to be mature at a few days since topping lol) and one of them snapped clean. Good times. Couldn't be fucked grafting it back on

Filling out nicely. Exactly one month old now. Popped 3rd August, now 3rd sept.

And to think I was Gunna run three autos in the 2x4 lol. A month in to two plants, and it looks like the tents Gunna be pretty packed by the time stretch stops.

At 20" from the light ATM, and I've got about 4-5" worth of riser under each pot.

So I snapped that top branch off a few days ago. I couldn't be fucked to try and graft it so I just cut it an inch below a node and stuck it in some soil. No dome, 40% humidity, no chance of reveg as it's a pre flowering auto lol. Bring on the stupidity.

It went droopy as shit for a few days but it's surprisingly upright today. If this roots and gives me a joint of shit weed I'll lose my head. It's been chilling near the bottom vents getting some light since Tuesday.

i was Gunna bin the amnesia as it was a bloody slow starter. It's at day 33 now and still stretching in pre flower which is great as I was losing faith after the last one pre flowered day 17 and started stacking around 23. This one looks to be a keeper...if only I could clone it for preservation.

Pretty pleased with the results of the cheap slow release as well. Not having to mix anything up or pH the water has been a blessing for a lazy man.

Day 39 from germ. Have only had good experiences so far with synergy automatic genetics. Their chimp glue 2.0, blue crush, gatorslade frost, amnesia and gorilla zkittlez have all been fire for autos. The both pre flowered at the same time and were similar in size, one just has a vastly differing stretch period from what I can see.

Crazy how you can never go by descriptions or dominance when it comes to estimating structure. The amnesia is 80:20 sativa dom before crossing with ruderalis and it is short stacked and bushy. The gatorslade is a 50/50 hybrid (strawberry cough/blackberry Kush) and looks far more sativa than expected. The amnesia was quoted as light feeder, fast stretch and long internode. The gatorslade was described as short stretch, tight internode and kush dominance over the vast majority of phenos.

Each one is more akin to the opposite description....perhaps I mixed up the seeds lol.

Space is getting tight but still have a good 18" left to the lights for the gator and 25" for the Amnesia. Have already done a lot of defoliation to make up for not being able to open the plants up. Strangely the amnesia has what looks to be a cross of light stress and early stage nute burn that's only apparent In the tent under the 4000k board. Outside the tent it's pretty much invisible. You can see the issue clearly in the pic above, but here below in natural light it's near gone.

Found two wooly aphids on the underside of a stem this morning so I pulled them out and gave them a good leaf and lower shoot defol to make it easier to spot pests followed by a good spray with a Neem/pyrethrum and a touch of yucca as it's all I had. Went through with a fine tooth comb and haven't seen anything else so far but only time will tell.

I guess that's what I get for working on someone's decrepit veggie garden and not looking after my cleanliness when getting home. For Christ's sake I even treated their garden for an aphid infestation and still came home and worked on my plants instinctively the other day. I literally brought all the tools I used to trim the aphid infested branches off into my room lol. I'm not too smart.

After all the Neem dried off today, and a solid defol of lower shoots and leaves.

She's looking a lot thinner. I probably went overboard taking like half the leaves off and drenching both plants over two wooly aphids but fuck it. It's done.

Purple Passion looking good. Top leaves getting a bit haggard due to some type of calcium transportation/lockout issue plus close proximity to the light (9", it's an a 2x2x4). Starting to fatten up and throw it's second round of stigma. I'm calling another four weeks. They are browning up quicker than expected, but the structure doesn't look as far along as the stigma suggest.

Lowers are starting to mature

The calcium lockout/transport issue and burn on the top leaves seem to be getting a bit worse now that it's been sitting close to the light for a while. It's really noticeable when you look at the underside of the leaves on the main cola.

Loving the colour difference between the two now that one's moved into flower.
IMG_20220914_150418.jpg
It's at this stage a 140x70 tent would be handy. That extra 8" length/height and 4" width would be a godsend. Have already did pretty decent defol sessions twice this week and wouldn't mind the extra space for airflow coming up to our humid summer. By the time I'm in late flower it'll be a steady 30-35c and 60-80% humidity.

If two autos are a squeeze with four weeks veg, I can't imagine trying to veg two photos for 8 weeks in a 2x4. I'd be removing more plant then I keep.

The amnesia looking more and more sativa as it progresses. Looks like it still has a fair bit of stretch left.

The gatorslade is a bit further along and starting to frost

Just did a solid defol, and I'm hoping it's close to the last . Took so many lower shoots off and thinned the canopy considerably. It hurts to pull foot long shoots, but they were all tangled and weren't getting shit all light. I'm talking like 5-7k lux or less.. basically just reflective light. A lot were pressed up against the wall.

I'm on the offensive as I had to pull the purple Passion a few days ago due to bud rot like two or so weeks early. All going well until I noticed a single dead leaf on the plant at the base of the main cola. I don't like it when a single leaf dies. Took a closer look and my fears were confirmed. two whole nodes (four decent buds) were rotted out around the main stem. Has only been 40% humidity, but air movement was only passive bar the 90cfm exhaust fan (big mistake). I gave them a dip in peroxide wash and let them dry. I pulled the other two out of their tent, cleaned the tents down and the room down with peroxide and disinfectant.

Had to bin a few decent duds, but decided not to take the risk trying to finish with spores present and just pulled it. I'll brobs only get like 1.5 Oz now lol.
IMG_20220918_130656.jpg
It's Well early as you can see by the bud shot. Sad as shit, but at least it has made me proactive with airflow for the two real plants. Thank fuck this happened with the runt.

Sadly I was just not experienced or knowledgeable enough to try combat the rot and keep it going.

Day 48 from germ. Gatorslade frost is starting to stack properly and stretch is well done. The amnesia still has a bit of stretch left by the looks of it but is pretty much ready to stack.
IMG_20220921_184345.jpgIMG_20220921_193623.jpg
It seems like a never-ending defol session. Like every three-five days lately I'm removing a bag of leaves and shoots.

Oh how if kill for 150x75 tents.

Speaking of that, greenfingers have some new tents that look handy for someone like me who grows small autos mainly, and staggers grows. The 6x2x6 looks good, and they also have a tall 5x2x7 now. It would have been nice to have three side by side in the 6x2.

Last 20 days of stretch as a comparison.

luckily I ended up with two plants exactly the same height so far. The amnesia on the left might have a few days minor stretch left though.
IMG_20220925_094257.jpg
I do have the same slight burn and what looks to be calcium issues again this run, so I'd say it is definitely from the slow release. Here's the discolouration starting.
Screenshot_2022-09-25-16-05-55-93.png
the rust spots and slight discolouration started around week three of flower last time as well, in an identical manner.

JUst progressed to some burnt tips and rust spots only on the top fans indicating an immobile nutrient issue which I presumed was calcium.

Getting a bit cramped in the 2x4 so I set up the 3x3 and threw the amnesia auto in there. Just waiting on another 220w quantum board ATM so I'm only using a 120w for the next few days. Still gets 40k lux up the top but the outers are only getting 20k..opened her up a bit so I wouldn't have to keep trimming.
IMG_20220928_134524.jpg
The gatorslade is still in the 2x4. I'll do some tying and sort her out this Arvo and throw up some pics.

Throwing some decent colas. Looking more sativa as it leans into flower

Starting to get deficiency or beginnings of lockout with the gatorslade frost. All the bottom leaves are fine, but the top fans have some minor rusting starting and some yellowing beginning.
IMG_20220928_214606.jpgIMG_20220928_214633.jpg
Hungry or beginnings of lockout? With this slow release it's hard to tell lol. The burnt tips making me think a minor potassium issue, but the fact that it's only in the highest fan levels makes me think some type of mobilisation issue.

Looks like light stress.
