But I don't think they are any more or less divided than they were last year. And no matter what 2024 is going to be another fight. The Republicans still have their current bullet proof house majority thanks to the severe gerrymandering and voting suppression in major states.

The Republicans are currently divesting themselves from Trump, he can't be forgotten, but they REALLY want him to be so that they can just pretend like they are not responsible for the attack on our democracy for their actions over the last couple decades to radicalize their 'base'.

The republicans are being setup for 2024 by the democrats and DOJ, if any of the political types are tried, it will be then and they will be last in line. 2023 also promises to be full of trials and investigations with Trump going down early and first. It might not matter to the base, but there is also demographic and generational change happening in the electorate. The democrats only need to win all three once to eliminate many of the GOP advantages and perhaps add two new states.

Of course the republicans set themselves up, but the timing of the price they pay is important too and whether guided that way or not, the timing could not be better. Any delay was perfectly legal and within the prosecutors discretion, the J6 report was a good way for them to end the session with the DOJ hot on the trail. Everybody seems happy since Jack showed up, except the republicans who haven't said much about it.
