Ik their has to be a strain that has been cultivated in the Adirondak’s for years. Ik they have been growing here forever sense the Mohawk used it for medicines. Anyone know anyone or a direction I can look in.

Any luck on finding the gold? I’ve been looking for a few years, found a local lead last fall, a guy “who knew someone who knew someone”. The typical unicorn cut story, but never materialized.

I have heard that adk gold is a climatized Acapulco gold. That’s the story I’ve got, and it makes sense, name wise. In reality I’ve seen a lot of afghan genetics do very well up here, also the Dutch genetics used to do well. I’m trying to make some new climatized strains for outdoor, using Tom Hill’s Deep Chunk to shorten the flower time. That is the conclusion I came to last year, if I want adk gold, I’ve got to make it, it’s either dead or the people that have it want it all to themselves.

Only “native” bud grown around me they call purple bud… but it’s not purple. Been around here 30-40 yrs + . I’m in Lewis/Jeff Co area. Good hybrid but I think it’s getting weak in the genetics, seems washed out from what it was 20 yrs ago. There’s other stuff as well, different people different likes. Most indica.

I remember years ago there was always northern lights around late fall or sooner no one could wait until it was cured. Chop it, dry it, and bag it. I would get it for about 25 bucks an ounce. This was in early eighties.
We always would get northern lights in the late 90’s early 00’s but it’s hard telling in our area of st. Lawrence county we would get a lot of the bud meant for the city coming down from Canada through the Native American reservation. By the time I was old enough to partake, most of the bud in my town was Rez bud, which was just beasters mostly. But my point is, I rarely trusted any names because you called it what was selling back then. They want kush, you can get the kush, they’re buying NL, we got NL…not proud of it, but we were teenagers and it is what we watched the people teaching us doing.

This hasn't really changed far as the lying about names to make a sale

The only thing I can say is that it has for me. If I get something and pass it on, I tell the person what it was sold to me as, and then i will let them know if I think that’s true. Like when I get a haze, I’m very hard to convince that’s what it is, cause nobody is flowering 16 weeks for the same price as the 8 week strains. But if it’s good nug it’s good nug.

Even then, you at best only know what the breeder believes, he thinks he’s got gelato 45, but maybe it’s a different pheno, or a cross or a bagseed, and some of these newer strains we don’t know the lineage on, it’s all hush hush, makes you wonder if they even know themselves.

I get what your saying thats why i only buy from decent folks who care more about the plant than just the$$ im aware what goes on tho why i recommend folks do there research before purchasing tbh and the witholding lineages or being obscure with it is nothing new prime examples would be shanti who you cant understand half the time or mr kc brains who just straight holds it back most of the time however id rather you did that than just lie tho
