yes. i already have coco out in the garage. just sterilize that and then build a DIY fruiting chamber? If you inoculated a bag of rye grains, I'm pretty sure that's gonna need to be mixed with a bulk substrate before fruiting.
Okay so the grow i did I used shotgun chambers for my brf cakes . But u should go for monotub with cvg or some other bulk substrates for grain .that's what i've been googling lately. monotubs with coco, with coco/vermiculite and then shotgun chambers with perlite.
how easy was the pf tek that you did do you think?
Yup do tht get a monotub or something . Nd u gotta mix some vermiculite in the Coco . My friend uses Coco + vermiculite+ gypsum for his bulk substrateyes. i already have coco out in the garage. just sterilize that and then build a DIY fruiting chamber?
that makes sense. i watched a vid of the shotgun chamber but it seemed like the option to mix up the grains with coco was better.Okay so the grow i did I used shotgun chambers for my brf cakes . But u should go for monotub with cvg or some other bulk substrates for grain .
yes, thanks. one vid had all 3 : coco, vermic and gypsumYup do tht get a monotub or something . Nd u gotta mix some vermiculite in the Coco . My friend uses Coco + vermiculite+ gypsum for his bulk substrate
Yeah I mean if u have grain spawn just do a monotub grow ull get way more out of it . I've read somewhere u can use shotgun chambers too but u can only fruit small amountsthat makes sense. i watched a vid of the shotgun chamber but it seemed like the option to mix up the grains with coco was better.
Yup just follow tht nd look up to make a monotub fruiting chamber . All the best manyes, thanks. one vid had all 3 : coco, vermic and gypsum
Pretty sure u gotta sterilize Coco my dumping it in boiling/ hot water or steam it or something. Thn u gotta add vermiculite to it for water retention and some gypsum and u good to goI only have 1 grow so far, and I used all-in-one bags from Amazon. I'm thinking there's generally more to the mix than just coco, but for all I know that's fine, too. Not sure how you intend to sterilize, but most seem to use pressure cookers.
As for the chamber, basically any Sterilite tub will work. I used 2 x 12qt tubs in dub-tub setups. Used a holesaw to drill ventilation holes that I covered with surgical tape. Went with multiple smaller chambers to try to ensure that one stroke of bad luck wouldn't kill the whole grow.

Coco and vermiculite with water added prior to cooking can be sterilized in the oven.Pretty sure u gotta sterilize Coco my dumping it in boiling/ hot water or steam it or something. Thn u gotta add vermiculite to it for water retention and some gypsum and u good to go
it looks like you use some type of black liner for the tubs? do you like that better than painting the containers black? You just need some kind of tub to mix the coir and spawn into, nothing fancy. If it’s bigger than the 6qt shoebox then you can just poke a few holes on the sides and cover the with micropore tape.
the long sides have three holes about two inches above where the surface Of the sub is.

coir doesn’t need to be sterilized but it won’t hurt either. Dumping water into a bucket is fine too.
Ay man I'm a new guy to shrooms . I've only done pf tek till now but can u tell my side pins are bad?Liners make it easier to remove and clean up. Also when the sub shrinks back from moisture loss the liner usually clings to the sub somewhat preventing side pins from forming in the micro climate.
This! Also makes it much easier to take the whole sub out for harvest if needed.
so with the liners, from what i was reading, it's best to add layer of substrate (like 1 inch) and then a layer of spawn , and keep layering until you get about 3 or 4 inches total and then finally a layer of sub that covers everything. Those are trashbags used as liner. Painting won’t do anything it’s about keeping the liner stuck to the sub to prevent evaporation/pinning. It helps a ton if you pack the edges down with your fingers as tight as possible too.
aside from that it keeps the tubs clean, just dump it out and start a new one. Also makes it much easier to take the whole sub out for harvest if needed.
