Legal woes of That Man’s associates

We don’t really have a thread for the judicial adventures of defendant’s inside people. I’ll kick it off with recent news concerning Michael Cohen and a repost about Rudy Giuliano’s recent failure to appear at his civil trial.

Cohen’s lawyer citing cases as precedent to free Cohen from supervised release, but the cases were fabrications!:

Internet specialist assesses value of Rudy’s defamation of two election workers at $47m

Giuliani lost it a couple years ago. I'm not sure he could pass a competency hearing. The elections workers will get a hefty award, deservedly so, but unfortunately he's broke, and you can't squeeze blood out of a turnip.

Edit: And Rudy is definitely a root vegetable!

If he cannot pay one way, it will be the other way. He’s facing felony trials.

Does this one fit in?

Kari Lake’s lawyers could face discipline over election cases
A committee overseeing attorneys in Arizona has found probable cause that lawyers who represented Kari Lake in election cases should face discipline.

The Attorney Discipline Probable Cause Committee filed the probable cause orders against lawyers Andrew Parker, Kurt Olsen and Bryan Blehm after the State Bar of Arizona conducted its initial investigations.

Each lawyer has been sanctioned by Arizona judges related to cases where Lake challenged the election results after she lost to Democratic Gov. Katie Hobbs in 2022.

The order from the committee allows the state bar to formally file complaints against the lawyers and pursue further actions. The lawyers could settle the complaints or lead to public discipline. Olsen, who is not licensed in the state, could face discipline up to reprimand, The Arizona Republic reported.

Bar Counsel members Hunter Perlmeter and Kelly Goldstein wrote to the lawyers that “to prevent unnecessary delay” they would be continuing to prepare the adjudication file but that they could “save time and costs” by agreeing to discipline by consent and by participating in a formal statement for the case.

In an order from May, the Arizona Supreme Court ordered Lake’s team, including Blehm and Olsen, to pay a sanction totaling $2,000 for making false claims about voter fraud in the 2022 election.

Olsen was among a group of lawyers for Lake who previously were ordered to pay $122,200 in sanctions after a federal court in Arizona found the lawsuit to be “frivolous.”

Another order from the committee found probable cause against Parker and Olsen in a case they filed on behalf of Lake and former Secretary of State candidate Mark Finchem that challenged the use of electronic machines counting ballots in the election where they both were running.

Lake, a former television news anchor, brought the suit against the state in April 2022 demanding that election officials use alternative methods to count ballots. It was later thrown out.

Lake has lost two trials that challenged her loss to Hobbs. She claimed in her second trial, dismissed in May, that there was misconduct in ballot signature verification in the state’s most populated county.

Earlier this month, a Maricopa County Superior Court judge rejected her request to view signed ballots of 1.3 million early voters.

Lake announced she would be running for Sen. Kyrsten Sinema’s (I-Ariz.) seat as the heavy favorite for the GOP nomination in October. Sinema has yet to announce if she is running for reelection, but Lake would likely face off against Rep. Ruben Gallego

(D-Ariz.) and Sinema if she were to join the race.

Lake has been a vocal supporter and ally of former President Trump and earned his endorsement shortly after announcing her bid.

copied over from another thread because this thread seems more appropriate

The origin story of Alina Habba, Trump's personal mouthpiece and butt of many lawyer's jokes is laid out here:

A woman who was pursuing a sexual harassment lawsuit against a manager at Trump's NY golf course claims that Habba, who told her she was acting as a neutral party, purportedly fraudulently convinced her to fire her own lawyer and sign a document that Habba wrote -- and on Habba's advice sign it without first having a lawyer read it and advise her. The document did not contain the necessary language or terms that make it legally enforceable but did contain harsh terms should the former employee speak publicly about the agreement. Not long after, Habba was given the job previously held a well known lawyer with a strong resume who had been heading up the E Jean Carrol case, Marc Kasowitz. At the same time, Habba dropped all connections with the woman she convinced to let Bedminster golf course off the hook for a paltry sum. Habba's credentials? Habba was running a four person law office in a suburb that specialized in family law. Not much lawyerly history of note before then.

They say Trump makes attorneys get attorneys but in this case, Habba did it all on her own. We only know what has been said by the woman Habba purportedly "helpe". Except maybe she didn't. We'll find out because it's likely that Habba's correspondences regarding this case are not protected under attorney-client privilege. Her new lawyer is Nancy Erica-Smith who has done major damage in other court cases regarding sexual harassment, so, maybe Alina Habba should find a better lawyer than herself, given how well the E Jean Carrol case went for E Jean Carrol.

Make Attorneys Get Attorneys. The Defendant is just like Roundup, everything he touches dies.
And yet there’s that awful article Printer posted today, about the Repug base seeing his bs as good for America. It is to cry, and to be sad.

When the award plainly exceeds defendant’s net worth, how is payment compelled?
I suppose he'll just have to apply for bankruptcy after everything he owns has been stripped away and the court orders garnishing his earnings going forward.

Bankruptcy it's the only protection he has left. Trump isn't going to help. Poor fellow.

Rudy says he didn't have the opportunity to present the evidence that would vindicate him. He "quite confident that when this comes before a fair tribunal it will be reversed so quickly it will make your head spin"

Yeah, go for it Rudy. When you do present that evidence, how about also presenting all that evidence you said proved Trump won the election.

What will he say when it is not reversed?
