Is it me but doesn't it look like the front of the plane flies off (is this the one where the front swings up to be loaded?)?

Every image of an Il-76 loading shows longitudinal clamshell doors and a ramp at the rear.

It sure does look like some or all of the fuselage ahead of the wings came off. Shame NTSB isn’t involved; they’d release their findings.

Patriot or their own SAM is the only question really, the POW line was complete bullshit.

I ran out to get some meds before they closed so I did not have time to look it up. Maybe there were S-300's aboard. If I knew the plane was going down I would toss out the back whatever I could. Not to say the missile could not have blew off the nose of the plane.

It was likely a SAM, it just took off and was at low altitude and there are reports they might have fucked up, looks like it hit the cockpit on climb out a few of minutes after takeoff, makes the source likely local and close. What SAM batteries were in Russia long the flight path? Could Ukraine have spoofed them into launching on their own plane? Might important people have been onboard, not POWs, that makes no sense and is contradicted by some direct evidence? The SAM cloud did not look to be at high altitude from the video, nor was the descent long.

Yeah I’m not sure what happened there. Maybe they’ll tell us.

If they had S-300s on board “coals to Newcastle”. Maybe a mess of flat-pack Shaheds, maybe

For Russians to launch on their own plane, I don’t think any Ukrainian deception is needed. I remember reading that a lot of conscripts use drugs to soften the military experience.

“Is plane with our smack?”
“Is not smack plane.”
“Ok, order is: smack plane.”

A message to Moscow, you can't win and won't, a message to America too, we are prepared to deal with Russia even with Trump in power. Just in case Joe doesn't dispose of them before the election by coming through on some goodies. There is a shortage of artillery ammo, so this time the idea might be to use missiles and airpower to cut the logistics far in the rear and keep the pressure on some fronts until they crack from lack of supply and starvation. The allies might provide the missiles and planes to do this. At the rate the Russians are losing airpower and AA defenses, as well as having to deploy them in Russia will make it safer for Ukrainian airpower when it does arrive. Meanwhile the Russian army grows weaker not stronger, it is filled with discontented conscripts who are untrained poorly equipped and treated like shit, as it keeps losing tanks and other irreplaceable equipment. Most of their ammunition stockpiles are gone and I saw reports that the failure rate for North Korean ammunition was as high as 80%.

Perfect for Ukraine, they are designed to operate off highways with mobile support, hard to find and hard to hit on the ground.

These Putin ass kissers and Eurofascists have been told in no uncertain terms, the gloves are off and other countries in Europe have told them they will fuck them and fuck them really good if they don't play ball! Countries don't tell their populations to prepare for war as many have done in recent days and fuck around with these clowns, the free ride is over, the gloves are off. Every Russian killed and piece of equipment or aircraft destroyed is one less they would have to deal with, better to fight them on their doorstep than yours. Europe saw the atrocities Russia committed in Ukraine on TV and the game is on, if Donald ever squirms into power he will be dealing with a far different Europe, this one will tell him to fuck off.

Thanks Victor, you FKN dickhead, wish NATO had appropriate language to expel members in its Constitution and send you packing, the Swedes and Finns are great assets for NATO. The Gripen would be a excellent compadre w/the F-16,it's easier to maintain and can operate in rougher conditions and it can probably join the fray in 50% of the time it has taken the F-16 to be deployed in Ukraine.A decent # of Gripens and F-16's will give Ukraine some capabilities they could could only of dreamed of at the outset of this war.I just hope the cunning and resourceful traits they have displayed hold true in their basing and dispersal of these jets so they can't be taken out on the ground, they are finite resources.

The Ukrainians admitted they hit it.

Turkey’s president approves Sweden’s NATO bid
Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has approved Sweden’s accession into the Western security alliance NATO, Sweden’s Prime Minister announced on Thursday,

“Welcome Türkeiye’s approval of the ratification of Sweden’s NATO accession. With this, a key milestone has been reached in Sweden’s path towards NATO membership,” Ulf Kristersson posted on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.

Turkey’s Parliament voted Tuesday to approve the accession 287-55, according to Turkish outlets.

Hungary is the last country to approve Sweden’s bid to join NATO.

On Tuesday, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán invited Kristersson to discuss the ratification. Some Hungarian members have expressed concerns about the Nordic country’s relations with Budapest.

Sweden, along with Finland, applied to NATO in 2022, just after Russia invaded Ukraine and ramped up concerns about security. While Finland’s acceptance was quick, Hungary and Turkey have held up the process for Sweden.

Orbán posted online Wednesday that he had a phone call with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg where he “reaffirmed that the Hungarian government supports the NATO-membership of #Sweden.”

“I also stressed that we will continue to urge the Hungarian National Assembly to vote in favor of Sweden’s and conclude the #ratification at the first possible opportunity,” Orbán said.
