say a guy has a few plants that are almost ready to harvest and he will get about 2 pounds dry weight from all them combine... he has hung them to dry and is ready to cure them... he doesn't have enough jars to cure them in but he has some 5 gallon buckets that are clean and have a cover... the bud is taken away from the main stem and is ready to cure.. how much would he fill the 5 gallon bucket with bud (1/2, 1/4, 3/4)??? and aprox how many buckets will he need?

sounds risky to me man, arnt you worried about the extra chance of mold in plastic and all that bud so close to each other??? i have no idea im just mentioning that you might want to take that into mind.

i will be moving it around and giving it air each day like you would with the small glass jars it's just that i don't have acess to enough jars to cure in.. all i have is buckets..

it has to be air tight! so no, a bucket wont work.
They do have they ones at petco or any pet stores to store dog food in. I have a few for my dogs and they are air tight. The dog food I give them will go bad if it is left in something that isnt air tight then my dogs wont eat it. They do cost almost $50 but you should be able to put everything in there and still have a bunch of room left over!

why dont you just go buy some more jars? you already put enough effort into the grow will ten more dollars really hurt?

Just use the buckets. They work for me. My bucket is air tight. Notice the rubber seal in the lid. Just check the pics I posted earlier

Buckets will work fine & ive used them before with success,i covered the top with cling film before puttting the lids on top, just take em all out everyday & let fresh air inside & your good to go.

awesome.. so i just fill it to about half way and move the bud around each day to let fresh air in and around them.. but aprox how many buckets will i need to do 2 pound..

That depends on what your budds are like, how fluffy ect, buckets with lids & rubber gaskets only cost $5 each at home depot, why not just buy 4 of them & you know your good to go.

if the bucket is not "food-grade" => not light proof, I would suggest put the busket in somewhere dark too

Good luck

What I did was put the buds from one plant in a gallon zip lock bag or 2 and put that bag in the Air Tight Bucket.

Glass jars are fine for a Pot Snob  who grows inside, and only has a few plants.

But I was bringing in a large outdoor harvest and the number of jars would have been a bit silly.

By putting the buds in bags and then in the bucket you keep the buds from plants separated from each other. That way if one bud is moldy / bad it wont ruin the whole batch. Maybe just the bag its in if it gets really bad.

I'd put them into paper bags then buckets. burp and mix up the nugs as needed. I use a coolers instead of buckets. Works great....smok'in some good shit now.:hump:
