Should I switch to 12/12 now or wait another few days

I have a S.A.D been going for 50 days maybe a few days more just wondering whether I should put it on a 12/12 or wait a few days it's my first plant and I've heard changing now is safe for newbies like myself. Excuse the lights on the pics it's just to show size and stuff.

Just the very top, right below those next new set of leafs. Leave some stem so it dont split when it swells and gets heavy. Heres an example.

I see, I've been reading up, Ideally I should start doing it after the first 5 sets of leaves have grown is that right?

yes, the first 5 nodes or so is a general recommendation for topping, though some like to do it a little earlier, and some a bit later. as a new grower, I personally would stick with right after the 6th node just to be sure its grown enough to support the new tops
 
I see, well given this is my first ever plant and I'm a bit further up from there I reckon I'll wait to try that method for my next plant as well as stress training. This first one was just to see if I could do it.

if you have a bit of spare cash, or are willing to look around online, you should be able to find Jorge Cervantes's books. These are great resources for new growers, and I've personally read through the majority of the 2nd edition Grow Bible along with Marijuana Horticulture indoor/outdoor Medical growers bible also by him.

there are newer versions as well, I just havent been able to find em locally.
 
I can find one of his books online not expensive, it's a mash up of his columns? , I'm sure I'll be able to source his teachings online if I can't find the books.

I'm just going to get it on flower as it's my first one I am tempted but as I've only got one I'm just gonna let it flower, next time when I've got two on the go I'm gonna do it to one of them and stress train the other and so on and keep testing the plants and my skill as well as I go.

I dont know if its a mashup of his columns, I've only read the books, though I dont doubt a lot of the information he has in the books is freely available on his website
