Give it some timeGuys I opened the cooler and I got the hay smell . Is this normal? What could be the reason? And will it ever go away after few days of curing?

Can you explain more brother.Give it some time
I had some hay smell too for at least a few days. But it has pretty much gone away at the end of dry. So I assume it does have some smell at the beginning because the chlorophyll is breaking down. I have read lots and heard it’s kinda common. But it goes away and then the good smell comes back after it cures. This is still my first grow, dry, cure so I am trying to trust the process.Guys I opened the cooler and I got the hay smell . Is this normal? What could be the reason? Same here. First time everything. Glad I stumbled upon this DYI cooler for a first timer. Thanks for the reassurance my friend.I had some hay smell too for at least a few days. Hey no problem I separated some of mine, so I left some in the cooler to continue curing, some in a couple jars, and some in grove bags. I’m doing like a side by side comparison to see how each turns out then I can at least see if they have any major difference. That way on the next grow I’ll have more info.Same here. How did you know they are done drying and ready to be bagged?Hey no problem I separated some of mine, so I left some in the cooler to continue curing, some in a couple jars, and some in grove bags. When I squeeze the bud basically. I think I should have gotten a moisture meter and probably will for the next grow. But I think I got it out at the right time, this morning I checked the buds in the jar and it stayed at 62%rhHow did you know they are done drying and ready to be bagged?
Wow congrats brother. Enjoy the fruit of ur laborWhen I squeeze the bud basically. I think I should have gotten a moisture meter and probably will for the next grow. But I think I got it out at the right time, this morning I checked the buds in the jar and it stayed at 62%rh
Hey HD, did you end up only cutting the bottom tray? With just the 4 trays it's tilting the dehumidifier upwards. Maybe I can place it between the bars in the back? I'll be grinding the 5th tray soon.I did not secure the dehumidifier in the cooler, it just sits with the pointed ends of the fins in the drip channel at the rear of the cooler. Here’s a pic of the bottom tray cut for the dehumidifier.

There are several posts with suggested setttings, but if you are putting freshly harvested bud in, no pre-hang dry, i remove all fan leaves and most larger stems out first, then start at 55f and 78%rh, and drop rh by .5% per day the first few days to a week, then 1% per day until 60% or where I want it. That’s a good place to start, once you see it run a few times you can adjust from there.
I only cut the bottom tray on both of my builds. My dehumidifier doesn’t touch the next shelf up. If it fits between the bars and drains properly it should be fine.Hey HD, did you end up only cutting the bottom tray? With just the 4 trays it's tilting the dehumidifier upwards. Thinking about my answer above, if the metal fins are touching the metal shelves that might cause an issue, make sure the shelf is insulated from the dehumidifier fins with a thermal insulator like plastic, silicon mat, wood toothpicks, an air gap is best.Hey HD, did you end up only cutting the bottom tray? The Inkbird IHC-200 has to be calibrated before using, did you calibrate it? If not a good starting place would be to set it close to the other two if they read the same and you know they are close to accurate.Hello, I have a problem, can someone possibly help me? I have the IHC-200-Wifi which shows an RH of 66.7%. Then I have 2 thermometers with humidity sensor....
IHC-200-Wifi: 66.7%
Thermometer1: 61%
Thermometer2: 62%
Do you think the IHC-200-Wifi is defective? It was a new device.
Why did u start with as low as 72% RH from the get go? Is it a safe start?I harvested about half of my Puck, took all the fan leaves and large stems off, trimmed a bit, and loaded in the Koolatron. I started out at 12c and 72% rh, and it’s running smooth. Here’s the koolatron loaded up.

And here it is with one shelf pulled out to see how I pack it, not packed tight or on top of each other, but full.

It wasn’t packed super full, I put it at 72 to start and see how it ran, and it worked just fine, so stepping down .5% from there. If it would have froze up I would have bumped it up to 76% and seen how that went. Why did u start with as low as 72% RH from the get go? Is it a safe start?
