hard to say without pics.. check out the grow faq in the plant problems section..

some strains will grow purple or red stems while they are totally healthy. I have a headband mother whos stalks are a deep color of purple, she is perfect and healthy.

red stems isnt normal! horrible help dull. Check your guys mediums ph. Im willing to bet your plants are locked up and probably mag/cl deficient because of the lock up

lock up is what im leanning towards mag/cl is what exactly and occures how?how do u fix it? and does it go hand in hand pale green almost yellowish leafs and purple stock and stems thanks for the help apprciate it

You probably have a deficiency because of the lockup, so adding cal/mag will just make it worst. Once you fix the lockup, the deficiency should go away. Do you have any brown spots. Yellow normally means that they are nitrogen hungry, or phosphorus. You arnt flowering are you? It could be so many problems. Can you post pictures.

Red/purple stems MAY BE normal if your strain produces red/purple stems. I have red stems all aound this grow, and believe me, they are healthy.... Thgey were red from the day they sprouted....
If the plants are healthy, don't worry. If they look sick, then diagnose and treat accordingly. Red stems may be normal, yellowing leaf more than likely N deficiency, but can be many other things... Look in the sticky on diagnosing problems...
Red petioles and stems are a normal, genetic characteristic for many varieties, plus it can also be a co-symptom of N, K, and Mg-deficiencies, so red stems are not a foolproof sign of P-deficiency. Too much P can lead to iron deficiency.

That is a known diagnosis of my plant on that one. I got nute solution on the leaves, dind't clean off, so they got a massive hit on certain leaves.
Please tell me, how can a plant be deficient from seed? They had red stems as tiny sprouts... It is genetics.
I am not giving false info... I quoted directly from the sticky on diagnosing....
Please tell me what info I misinformed him on? That certain strains have red stem, or that yellowing leaves could be an N deficiency? Which is wrong?

From your grow... I see red stems...... They look streched too... But I am sure they are turning out healthy and fine... right.
Not trying to start anything, but we all can learn something from each other. Nothing I posted in this thread is incorrect. Everything is based on information available on this site... in the stickies, and from what I have learned. We are all just trying to help each other out.

The stem should never be purple or red. Purple stems are rare, even on a purple plant. You can take or leave my knowledge. I dont care. I know you haven't a clue what your talking about. You stems are purple, but 100% guaranteed that they wi.l be green. I never said yours were deficient. I was pointing out how you might not be the most suitable to give correct information from your picture. Sry about the stabbing dude. You seem just a little out of my league. I take horticulture class's. Im not a noob.
Super stretched right? 1200 HID in a 3x3. lol

RED STEM IS NEVER NORMAL. & Yours will be green, check the inter-nodal growth.

Hey man, I learn on here every day, from guys like you, and others. All the info I can find states that red stems can be normal. I point out I used the words can or may, but that just red stems alone will not get you to diagnose the problem.
I am not trying to fight against you, everything you say is right on. But many types of weed can have red stems, that is why everything you read about certain deficiencies tell you to look at the whole plant and not just one part.... you know what I mean.
I am in no way trying to outmatch you, just adding stuff here and there That I have picked up. Again, we can all learn something from each other.
You should know that I have mad respect for veteran growers, as I am fairly new still. But I feel comfortable answering questions within my scope. I told the guy simple, red stems may be genetics, but also may be deficiencies.... That's all, which is true.
Hey man, respect to you and your grows. Cheers, let's clip this convo.

On a side note, any advice on my grow? Cheers man, good luck on your harvest too!

Your telling people red stems are sometimes normal. 99% out of the time, its not normal. A sprouting with a little red is definitely different than a vegging plant with purple/red stems. You state your plants are fine with red stems. Do you realize that all seeds sprout with a brownish/red stem and they will eventually have green stems. Thats totally normal. Purple plants most the time dont have purple stems. They are green. Thats what sucks. Most information on RIU is from a bunch of noobs that like to think they know what they are doing. So dont believe anything you read. Period. As I said early, the description of the diagnosed plant is most likey a lock out causing a cal/mg deficiency causing red roots. Fix the lockout and the deficiency is probably cured. Pictures would help with accuracy, im speaking from experience with red/purple stems. I like your vibe, CLIPED

hey bleezy.. im sorry but you're full of shit. don't get on here and tell this guy that there is no such thing as a healthy cannabis plant with red or purple stems. I have grown them. I have been doing this for several years, and i know for a fact that plants can be perfectly healthy in veg or flower and have colored stems. YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT. "i take horticulture class's" whatever man.. do you have experience growing every pheno of every strain??? NO YOU DON'T. Colored stems can definitely be a sign of problems, but not always. I know right now because I am growing a strain that does it. temps in my mommy room are always at 80 to 82 degrees. I keep my nutreints at a fairly low level but not low enough to cause any problems. My Headband mommy has purple stems. the others around her don't.

I'm sure that the strain Dannyboy from Subcool/TGA grows with red stems... are you gonna go tell Subcool that he doesn't know how to grow?? Jackass.

The lights are not close enough. But when you transplant just bury it deep and put soil to about 1/2 of an inch below the leaves
