I know,poor plant.Whats the best water temp?Just made one,good thread..Make sure you clean all your pvc pipes good after cutting and drilling....I turned mine on for the first time and watched every nozzle clog one by one from loose pvc fragments....was pissed
 
I built my first aeroponics box about a month ago...pretty much the same set-up as seen on the 32 site DIY system that is already posted the only difference was that I used 6- 12 inch baskets. It is working nicely and very efficient the only problem is that it is difficult to maintain the water resevoir right beneath it. The next one I am going to get creative and use a separate resevoir for easier access to check ph and nutes. I also added a small pump in the bottom corner circulating the water in a clockwise motion.
 
Thanks for the post! I'm trying to design a similar system for my closet. I need to learn more about the actual growing process once I've got my system designed.

The 600w HPS will add a lot of heat to your closet which means your air flow will be key. I would say plan on a 400w or even a 250 if your only growing those 4 plants especially since you will be reflecting most of the light. I have my system which uses 6" net pots under a 600w with 12 plants and it puts out a good amunt of heat and make a seperate water resevoir to make it easier to get to your water to check nutes.

Check out this bubbleponics system and the way the resevoir is seperate. I'm going to use tips from both this post and that site to make my other 2 boxes.

I was actually going to have 8 plants, but even so, you think a 400w should suffice? Looking at my drawing there, where would you stick the fans for optimal airflow? I'm trying to keep this setup as economical as possible.

Edit: I have a pH testing kit, so I was thinking of just using a turkey baster to grab some water, and throw into my kit. Either that, or drill a hole at the base of my bottom container, and actually put the entire thing inside of a tray? I'll come up with something to simplify this. It depends how often I need to test the water, and change then nutrients.

Also, given the space that the plants will have to grow, and the the excess space to allow for the roots to grow, how much would you say my design would yield. Close to a pound?
 
It's hard to get proper airflow in a closet because that involves cutting holes in walls which for some growers that may be difficult if they rent or just dont want to go hacking up their walls. You have to make sure you have atleast onesource of cool air for the light and then if I were you I would install 2 pc computer fans on the walls of your mylar covered hood. One blowing air in the other sucking it out. Its small, cheap and efficient. There is a similar set up of the tubs in the DIY sub form. A 400w HPS should be plenty to grow 8 plants in this set up.
 
With an experienced grower and proper nutes and lighting this system could yield 3/4-pound if everything is done proper. I am in day 40 of veg and my plants are all 30+ inches and this was my first aeroponics grow. I have 12 plants in 6" net pots and am expecting 20-24 ounces if everything works out. I know its probably not vital but I added an air pump ain the resevoir to oxygenate the nutrients similar to bubbleponics.

so i decided to run the pump out the side for temp control wich was a pain and after many buzzed runs to lowes to get stuff i forgot, i sat down and looked at the pump and realized that i was gong to flood my basement and prolly kill my plants do to pumping all the water out of the tub....:sad: if it could happen it will happen to me..:roll:

Thanks! Also, I plan on growing from seed, to maturity. Since I'm so new to this, how long will the sprinklers be kept on during each stage? I don't want to drown the seeds right from the start. I was also thinking of putting my light on an adjustable cord so I can adjust the height of the light as the plants grow.

Also, I haven't seen this pump up close yet, does it have different settings to increase or decrease the amount of water being spewed through the sprinklers.

I am interested in a aero room,was gona buy a aquamist system but now will try to build one first.Would several large 6" pvc pipe in rows with pots be more effecient than many smaller aero setups?

I'm not sure about yields. As stated, I am familiar with the Aquamist and we see what it will do with the proper strain and techniques. :weed:

Nice lookin' grow ya got going on there, plants look good and healthy. I am curious about your set-up, though. You mention "aeroponics" and "reservoir", yet your medium looks like a perlite/peat moss combination. :peace:
