well try to do some math in you head, and try to see how much you are gonna expect from both ways,
roughly 22 mcdonald sweet tea cups will fit into a rubbermaid bin
compared to roughly 3 gallons?

i say theres no question to go with the cups if your gonna be vegging for a week then goin 12/12

Ok so I figured half gallon milk cartons there still really small and they 64 ozs I'll just cut the part with the handle off and still have enough space. I might do up to ten plants now lol.

For the love of god I hope you read this before you go to the depot and buy a bunch of shit you dont need. Dude people for some reason go WAY overboard on CFL grows. Im sure it is because so many people say you cant get good yields with CFL's or that you need like 100 watts per plant ext...THIS IS COMPLETE BULL SHIT!!!! I am so fucking sick of hearing this shit. The most simple, cheap, and effecient CFL setup you can possible make is with two 30 gallon rubbermaids flipped on eachother like you got there with those 20 gallons. DITCH THOSE 20 gallons. Buy 2 30 gallons at wally world. they're 10 $ each. You have a great fan, although for future reference and other people reading this all you need is a 4" pc fan with full power (usually 12 volts) All you need for lighting is 4 42 watt 3000k warm white CFL's for a total of 168 watts and 10,400 lumins. 5-6 plants will fit COMFORTABLE in 2 gallon grow bags. Since you have a can filter 4 would grow fine. For lights you buy a 4 light vanity fixture from walmart or the Depot. Its the cheap simple bathroom 4 light fixture. Take metal off and cut holes for sockets and put em through and seal with silicone sealent. put 4-6 passive intakes 2" in diameter. The purpose of putting your lights like this is the plants grow inbetween them so 100% of the light is being utilized. 360 degrees. The mian reason alot of CFL grows are shitty is because they put there lights vertical above there plants. CFL's HAVE SHITTY PENETRATION. Im sure you read this and know this but I just wanna say it. So when people do this they are only using about 25% of the light and most of this is just on the top 2-4 inches of plant. When you have your bulbs vertical and your plants growing aroundt hem you get 10+" of dense bud growth. I promise you if you are even just a half ass grower you will pull ATLEAST 2-3 OUNCES from this. I and my friend pull quater pounds from this. You should to. You have to be doing something seriously wrong to pull less. If you have a stringy sativa you will pull around 3 ounces with optimom growing conditions. A good indica or indica/sativa cross and you can pull a QP without much difficulty. You seem to have some good ferts so that should be fine. All together this setup cost 4 42 watt cfls=9$ each @ wally world=27$, 2 30 gallon rubbermaids @ $9 each=$18, 4 sock vanity fixture=$20, plus exaust fan, small table or pc fan to blow on plants to strenthen stems and nutes. You already have the last 3 things. So thats $65 for you and someone else a pc fan is about $4-5 for a good one. My box cost me $80 total to make. Also people freak out about burning leaves with CFL's. IF YOUR NOT BURNING LEAVES THE PLANT IS NOT CLOSE ENOUGH. If you burn a leaf just cut the burnt part off. I have yet to have a hermie in any grow I or my friend have done (knocks on wood) When your plant grows up around the lights just pinch the fan leaves down. Pinch the stem down and bend it towrds main stalk. If it snaps thats fine. Again no hermies from this. It will repair its self but it will stay bent like that way from light. Also a very importan thing to do is rotate your plants 1/4 turn every day. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT FOR EVEN BUDS. If you do this right not only will you have 3-4 ounces of bud but that bud will be ROCK HARD NUGS. Just make sure the temps are 70-75 ideally. 75-80 is OK but any higher and .your gonna g.et airy buds. You have a nice fan so airflow will not be a problem. 168 watts= 3-4 ounces I PROMISE. Im 12 days into flower in that log. I did not create this box design. A guy named Lifeless did and he is a fucking guru for doing so. Believe me I overthinked shit before I did this to. Im so glad I decided to try this box because it is 1000% amazing. If your confused about the box design just post it and ill check tomorow morning after I get back from the gym. Dont worry, if you do it right you will be very suprised at how well CFL's will do. You can easily have a few of these boxes going and have a perpetual harvest as good as any HPS SOG. Just veg till about 10-12" depending on strain. If sativa flower around 6-8" and pure indys flower around 12"

Heres the light fixture so you can see what im talking about. This is from lifeless's box who is the creator of this box. I based my design on his. Mine is a lil different and uses 4 individual sockets but is a lil more difficult and unnecesary. The 4 socket vanity fixture lifeless uses is the easiest way. Ill show you how mine is in the next post.

Man I already got it. Ive used cfls before and had some left over. I have 12 bulbs 4 of which I already had. I just bought 2 4 backs of 14w 2700k. I have 15,200 lumens in all. I got his covered man to say the least this isn't my first rodeo. I appreciate you trying to warn me but I know what you mean. I already had two power strips just laying around so I bought 6 plug in sockets for 2.09 each and I already had three y splitters so I just bought three more. I wish I had pics right now but I don't. But as for lights I have 2 85w cfls one 6500 k one 3000 k which have 4200 lumens each, 8 14w 2700k which have 900 lumens each, and 2 23w 2700k which have 1600 lumens each. I using 2 liter bottles with the tops cut off and 5 holes cut in the bottom. I ran it with the ALL the lights on and the fans and max temp was 67F thats freaking great. I want to get a purp strain I would be able to turn it purple with those low of temps lol.

The lights are like this. I have the two power strips zip tied to the side of the box with three plug in sockets on each side. The out side two sockets have y splitters with two 14w bulbs on each side with one 23w in the middle. Then the two 85w bulbs are hanging from the top. all of the bulbs are horizontal except for the two 85watters that are hanging.

I hope to get atleast a half or more from each plant. It would be great to get an ounce off of each but not likely with cfls. I own an hps and can admit cfls are nothing compared to the HID.

The great white shark will be the first to be harvested it has a fast harvest date at 8 weeks from preflowers, the haze is 11 weeks from preflowers, and the gigabud is 14 weeks from preflowers. I have a pretty long journey ahead of me but I'm looking to get some dankity dank from this with 100% STEALTH ability.

Have you turned your lights back to 12/12 yet?

ok your looking like its about time for 12/12 (thats when the plants start showing you what sex they are. It takes 12 hours of light and 12 of darkness exactly to get bud or balls lol. Males have balls and don't produce any useable thc . Females have pistils (or hairs as some call them) and produce the thc that your looking for. Make sure you don't get ANY light leaks what so ever when your in 12/12 during the dark period. It can cause your female to turn hermie (or both sexes) and pollinate her/himself. And you keep your lights 12/12 until your bud is ready. The trichombs will tell you when she is ready to be chopped. Check the grow faq for more answers.

Perlite is used to optimize drainage in soil. You can also use it as a soiless mix and. You could even do 1 part Perlite, to 1 part Vercumilite, to 1 part Peat moss. Basically for every scoop of perlite do a scoop of the verm. and peat. You can check the grow faq to see what ph marijuana likes best in soiless mixtures to make sure you have that on tract. But I think you could MAXIMIZE your space by building one of the grow spaceships/boxes, and running with soil or a soiless mixture and doing the veg for a week and then flower.

you could maybe I mean mabye be albe to transfer from hydro to perlite but not perlite to hydro. I mean you would be albe to fit so many more plants doing soil or soiless with this method. And if you do bagseed you could fit up to ten in there. So about a 5 male 5 female ratio if your lucky. But your still garunteed some females that way.

yea but i really like my hydro setup and i think itll grow faster .......mayb ill take out that side resevior and put sum pots there
