is the advantage of this over regular dwc the water circulation?
The MAJOR advantage is the very rapid grow you get from having the feeder tubes, and the oxygen enriched nutrient water being pumped to each root base, 24/7. You have to experience it to believe it.
A DRIP system has to be on a timer, or you will drown the plant witht he constant flow. This is not a constant flow, but is a constant trickle of very bubbley water.
have you tried a side by side to see if moving the water is helpful? it seems to me like the water pump isn't necessary if the roots are in the water already.
- The water pump is moving the water, cooling it and adding oxygen to it.
- You can start seeds DIRECTLY in the cubes
- You can add cuttings and they will root
- EVEN after you get roots into the deep water, the feeder tubes encourage more rapid additonal growth
pick up hole saws for cutting the holes. I just got a hole saw kit with every size from 3/4" to 5" for $16. stick that on the end of my power drill and its makin holes til the battery dies.
sub any container with holes for a net pot. I was thinking about trying some of those green net baskets used for picking berries, but they seem a little too flimsy.
