I'm confused.
I am sure he is not hydrating to add weight, just to put back what should be there, but has gotten too dry from time in a plastic bag and refrigeration. If his buds were wet, people would bitch...but if they are crispy, some may also. It does improve the look, smell and smoke. Better to not let it dry out in the first place.
I will occasionally do this for personal smoke if it gets crispy. I have put a drop of water on the top of the jar and let it sit over night. I recently learned a better way: take a piece of paper towel, wet, and squeeze out all excess as you roll into a little ball about the size of a BB to a green pea (depending on amount of bud). If you have some quantity and you live in a dry climate, you are just creating a humidor for your fine cannabis like one would for Cuban cigars. The clinic's bud is pulled out and sniffed and handled a lot, and bet they weigh them a little over anyhow, just in case they dry out, and you get home and it is 3.3g!
