Ghetto fabulous Northern Lights grow

This is my first attempt at growing for personal consumption. My aerogarden grow went horribly so I decided to start over with soil. I planted 3 Northern Lights seeds obtained from Nirvana. Using three 8 inch pots with 6 daylight 23W CFLS and 1 42W Soft White CFL. They will be growing in a 10X5 ft closet. Not comfortable with doing my own wiring so I will just be hanging the CFL's from a rack that normally hang's clothes. The back wall has Mylar tacked on along with a couple small wood pieces I stood along the side. Also placed mylar on the door but I won't have it closed much because I want good airflow and the heat in there gets close to 90 in the late afternoons.

Now one thing that is going to confuse me will be the soil, I don't have a good indoor garden shop close by so I just used some potting soil from my friend's garage. The name of the soil is Schultz Premium Potting Soil Plus. Underneath the title it says "Feeds up to 9 Months!" If this is the case, should I never use Grow Big or Tiger Bloom in the future? Or will it be safe to use a small amount of additional nutes? Also for odor control I am using a canister of linen scented ona. wondering if this will be enough to block the smell from 3 flowering plants.

Temps in the closet go from 70-89 degrees depending on time of day. Humidty in my closet is about 20% baseline and I have a cheap Wal Mart humidifier which could raise it to about 45%. wondering if I should even bother with adjusting the humidty. The posted pics were taken this evening, the plants are 2 weeks old from sprout. Won't be expecting great results since this is my first real attempt. Comments and tips welcome:blsmoke:

DAY 21

Plants looking a little wilted, taking advice I have read and letting them get slightly wilted before watering. Added an extremely small amount of Grow Big to my water today just to see if I can get a small boost in growth. Should not be nearly enough to burn anything, I added under half a teaspoon. Already starting to get a sweet aroma floating around the closet.

Day 24

Slight yellowing in bottom set of leaves, not to worried since plants are growing well. Raised CFLS a couple inches to allow for slight stretching. Fimmed tops of new growths. Main issue seems to be heat, closet is getting up into the mid 80's even with fans running. I am pleasantly suprised with the progress of this experiment.

Your babies look mighty healthy to me. I'm one week along on a nl#5 so its great to see what's hopefully in my future.

Your babies look mighty healthy to me. I'm one week along on a single nl#5, so its good to see what my future will hopefully be like.

Day 25

Temp got up to 88 in my closet yesterday so I think growth has stunted a little. Also could be from the fimming I did a couple days ago, I heard that fimming can slow growth temporarily. It looks like the areas I cut are growing back in which is a relief since I've never tried it before. Gonna have to shop around for more lights soon as flowering time approaches. The urge to buy a 250W HPS is growing since I find adjusting the CFL's to be a pain.

Day 28

Slow growth continues, I'm hesitant to add many nutes each watering due to the soil I started with and even with small amounts of Grow Big added I'm getting small brown spots on one of my plants.
