HPS throughout vegation - flowering

yeah two 400's would do nicely in that space BUT THE HEAT is extreme and will kill your crop...then wasted all that money......are you going to veg and flower in this closet? what kind of door? is it sliding door? accordion style?

Yes thats what im afraid of is the heat. I Plan on starting these seeds from start to finish in this cloest. It is a accodion stle door with 1 inch slits trhough the whole door. Although i planned covering the inside of the door with mylar so theres no light leaks.

if you can get a fan on both sides of the closet up towards the lights...one pushing cooler ambient air in and one pushing the hot air out (pulling) you can do ok with heat...but once the room heats up you will have issues...what is this closet up against? hallway wall?

What do you think puts out more heat, 2 400 wat mh. or one 600 watt mh. On the otherside of the closet wall is a living area. Just tv room basically.

yah that does indeed make since. You can have as much watts as you want without killin the plant correct? its just the heat problem. Its now crossed my mind to just buy like 10 t-5s for vegging. I really dont want to stick with that idea due to the fact it wont come out thick and bushy right? I really do indeed think that if use one 400 MH light with t-5s around it i could manage the heat. One marjor concern i have is can you add t-5s to surround the plant while your flowering with a HPS, or it T-5's more of vegation bulbs.

You can use the t-5s to surround the plant, that is a good idea the lower buds will thank you. How are you going to cool all of the heat though?

Heat from 2 400 watters or 1 600 watter wont be bad as long as the house temps arent already warm. keep fans in there moving the air. Set the lights to be off during the day and on at night and you ll be fine assuming the 2x6 area is normal height like 7 feet or taller

The room that this closet is in stays at 60 to 65 degrees as it is. I really am convince of buying a 600 switchable ballast. Then havin 2 pioneer IV T5 HIGH OUTPUT flurcent fixtures on both sides. Although like you said earlier that 600 MH bulbs are hard to find and im sure my local hydroponics store isnt goib to have them. Would i need 2 seperate ballasts to run 2 seperate 400 mh lights? I Appreciate the help!!

T-5's are versatile i have flowered with them also. I have bushy plants and all i use now is T-5's see! and its only 4-bulbs you wont need 10 sets of T-5's plus they are pricey not by you?

wow I didnt relize t-5s are that powerful. All you used was one t5 for both of those plants? You use the same bulbs throuighout the whole grow? Those plants looked beutfful just considering there CFL's.
they are NOT CFL;s but similar i guess. I actually grew 6-females under there..i only have two left soon to go to flower as soon as some finish (no room). yeah one fixture with 4-bulbs 216watts i think! i kept the light 1" off top of plants the whole time. when i did a whole grow with T-5's i had switched the 6700's (bulb Kelvin) to a flowering bulb...BUT the bulbs are only 10.00 a piece so its not a major cost. my yield was OK when i did it...but now HPS is the winner for me. and T-5's for vegging

yah i would switch to HPS for flowering and stick those t-5's on the sides. I asked this before but didnt get response, would the t-5s be a good additive to the sides with the same bulbs i vegged with or would it make the plant think its not suppose to be flowering?. I would still have a 600 HPS above.

Already answered that. The veg bulbs will be good they will give the plant full spectrum once it is combined with HPS

Also how many t-5s would i need for that 2x6 room if i planned on vegging them until there 4 feet tall. I have one more concern, the room of right now stays around 60 degrees would a few t-5s throw enough heat for it to raise the temp. up to 75-80 degrees?

well magic word is 4 feet! might want to get heat situation in order first then go with HALIDE T-5's is NOT going to get you 4-foot monsters. Mine in the picture was surpassing 3-feet and noticed lower leafs not looking so good. I took this as not enough light...so i super cropped them. IF you want 4-footers what you gonna do when they get 6-7 feet?
60 degrees and T-5's would be yeah 75-80 sounds right maybe not that high. if you can find the 2X2 system that has 8-bulbs you could run two systems 4-foot and then the 2-footer for the spacing.....BUT 4-foot plants are not going to do well under T-5s

Man I just cant find the combination yet, im just pullin my hair out trying to figure this out. Are you sayin once i put it into flowering at 3 feet the final height will be 6 feet? Im almost thinking that two t-5 to start these 8 plants out until there about 8 inches tall then having a 400 watt mh with ballast. for veggin while both these are pointing at the side of the plant. How long will these need to veg for and when it comes time to flower i'd throw the 400 hps light in there? Althought would that be enough juice to get the buds hugs seeing how theres going to be 8 of these plkants?

Easiest way to solve this is 1 600 watt digital ballast and use a light moiver on a 6 foot rail. The 1 light will have minimal heat and the light rail will run the entire 6 feet and cover the 2 foot wide excellent. Heat will be minimal if its 60-65 in there as is I bet 78 will be hard to get to. If you decide 2 400 watters pm me or for a 600 watt ballast or setup pm me Im not allowed to post prices in no classified threads. T5s are good for veg and can flower but you need a bunch for that area it would cost almost a grand for lighting with T5 setup

to guage final height indicas will double from thier veg height and sativas will triple to double so a 3 foot indica will be about 6 feet and a sativa 3 footer will finish at 3 plus feet
