Easiest way to solve this is 1 600 watt digital ballast and use a light moiver on a 6 foot rail. The 1 light will have minimal heat and the light rail will run the entire 6 feet and cover the 2 foot wide excellent. Heat will be minimal if its 60-65 in there as is I bet 78 will be hard to get to. If you decide 2 400 watters pm me or for a 600 watt ballast or setup pm me Im not allowed to post prices in no classified threads. T5s are good for veg and can flower but you need a bunch for that area it would cost almost a grand for lighting with T5 setup
Excellent, althought what do you think i should do for it to get up to the average degrees. Also would a line for the 600 mh to run on be a bitch to setup. and will it make noise?

Dont worry about the temps being to low really if you get the temps at 70 or so with lights on your gold and if it deeps down to say 60 with lights off you fine may even get the plant to go a purple or blue as a side effect. Light rails are simple just screw it to the cieling or a board mounting in there hang the reflector and cord and plug it in witht he light timer. Almost silent my older chain drive ones make alittle noise heard in the room like a slight toy motor the new no chain models silent and its all easy. save effort and get a hortilux dual spectrum enhnaced bulb it has mh blue and red hps in the same bulb for a perfect light use it from start to finish. Bulbs cost more but your buying 1 and its the best availiable.

you dont need an 8 inch inline fan to cool a 600 watter. i had a 600 watter when i was growing and i had a 4inch vortex hooked up to it. temps stayed at 80 degrees, so a 6 inch will keep it below 80

you dont need any inline fans to cool a single 600 watt light they are not that hot unless in a grow box. in an open area or large tent heat is minimal just need fans blowing the air in the room and under the light above the plants

well guys ive done my shopping and i ended up with 2 400 wat MH lights. I plan on starting the seeds with these 400 watters and yes i know this isnt the best idea, although i have the light almost 4 feet away from the starting cups. The room is 81 degrees and 60 humid. Is this alright. Althoguth when the plants reach 4 inches tall how far from the tops of the plants should i put the lights?

81°F is a little high but I guess it will be alright.... I personally would get an inline fan to keep the temps within 76-78°F but that is just me

Keep fan blowing under the light and then right at the tops of the cups. I personally would use the 400 watt lights for starting the plants as your increasing stress and its too intense. If you have no cheap shop lights (gulp) you can use a couple cfls in the blue spectrum. You bought a digital ballast right as if you bought just the mh only that was a waste as your better off with hps if you only have one or the other but Im sure you got digital which runs both as they are cheaper and way cheaper to run and get shipped.81 is ok just keep the fans going and it will drop the tempos by the plants good 5-8 degrees

Wouildn't the stess be bad for the plants starting out? I still have it 4 feet away, and i plan on dropping 5 inches every other day as the plants get a little bigger. I do have 2 seperate ballast and seprate hoods . Currently the MH is id running in both. i only put one of the 400's on the seedlings instead of both which would obviouslky be overkill. I did buy the HPS for when I decide to flower. I alsoi bought this soil called organicare outdoor moisture formula, pure eath,
...i was in the process of buyin the fox farm ocean forest and the guy had mention that this stuff is better, and was 10 dollars cheaper, is this stuff any good do you know? Also i bought this liquid nutrients called " orgincare nitrex" which was also recomended from the person wroking. Has anyone use neither?

i use a 600 hps for everything, if your only going to have 1 light then an hps is the way to go, if you want more blue then the sonagro bulbs are the one to get, you see a plant likes blue light for veg but it does not need all the blue light a mh produces, i find i get best results with the osram 600 hps bulbs, they have an enhanced blue spectrum and the plants grow like wild under them
