thanks guys you are all putting good ideas in my head. i dont think its the lights. i grow under two 42w (150w) and five 26w (100w) cfls. i think the older one is just a weird strain and seed. yeah no roots really coming out the bottom yet. how will i know if it is root bound. what are the sighns of root bound plants? here is a little pic of my lights and plants while lights were off.
Usually you will see the roots coming out the bottom holes a little. You can always take the plant carefully out the container to check. At this point in tim you might be root bound. It is a very common thing to happen. These plants grow extremelly fast and a lot of people get root bound with out knowing it. If you are not root bound and you plant into a larger container it is okay and won't hurt. I like to get my plant root bound before I transplant. I veg mine for a lot longer than most people and like to have a tight root ball before I transplant, as bad as being root bound sounds, I found out a long time agon that in the long run, especially if you are keeping plants for a long time, actually helps. I know this sounds strange and yes it does stress the plant a bit, but when you get root bound, you develop a very complex root system. Being root bound is bad if you are just going to veg and flower asap like most people, but again, i don't. It does actually make the plant stronger in the long run when you get just slightly root bound before transplant.
Again just go to a larger container and it can't hurt. It you want a better light, try to get some T5 High Outputs. I used to 2 four foot T5HO for veging and they work great, I use 6 three foot T5HOs now and 8X for flowering. It's a great setup. I use Sunblaster High output T5s.
