Has anyone ever purposely grown a really small plant?

I have seen people who have accidentally grown plants that were small but has anyone ever purposefully used a small container to grow a smaller plant?

I saw a picture of one that was grown in a cup smaller than a bic lighter but was several inches high and had bud.

I was thinking of doing this with a couple of seeds and tossing them into my grow room (which is too small for another full sized plant) and seeing if I can get some extra bud. Even another gram would be worth it.

Yeah! It's called "Bonsai", give it a Google search. It works real well for cannabis too. It really comes in handy when you have a large number of "Mother Plants".

you mean like 16clones per sq ft? Yeah people do it, lots of little plants equal 1 large plant with the possibility of less light use. some only try for 1/4 per plant

best way to have small plants is to flower small clones...

I have grown my share of 6" plants that gave me a 1/4 oz or more...

"CLONES" is your answer...

Gypsy, that is awesome! My main grow is big enough to take clones from but I don't have/can't afford to get any rooting compound so I'm a little nervous about going that route.

Lots of people clone with no rooting hormone...

Cloning is not the seven headed beast that most people think of...

Remember... the plant was DESIGNED to survive... all YOU gotta do is not kill it... she'll do the rest...

Just remember...

A seedling will have to mature...

A clone is the same age as the mom...

You can flower a 1" clone if you want.... can't do that with seed...

What would be the best way to get the clones going? Do you just plant them in soil and cover them or is there some other method?

well, I am a hydro guy...

You need to talk to some soil folks...

But yeah.. you got the right idea...

a clean cut at a 45 degree angle, stick in dirt, keep it moist but not soaking wet...

Should root in 10 to 14 days...

I use this method...

A batch of clones in rockwool

but I do hydro...

Nothing says that you couldn't stick these cubes in the dirt when they show root, but I believe you can have the same success without them...

To root without hormones all you need to do is set the clone in a cup of water. Make sure the area where the plant will grow roots is blocked off from light, roots need dark.

Change the water every day (to keep it oxygenated) or use a small bubbler.

Reduced light and/or a moisture tent (some kind of transparent bubble or container around the clone to keep humidity up) will make things easier for the cutting to remain hydrated while rooting.

Ok, so i am going to cut some clones, but which branches to use? I'm thinking the 2 below the top 2 because they are the best ratio of health to size.

I'm going to grow one of my auto flowering girls in a shot glass all the way to maturity. The beans are pretty pricey just for novelty so I'm going to polinate a couple or three females to get a bunch of seeds and do it the next grow. That will be cool tho.
