Starting my first grow, Would love advice and tips

I smoke around mine all the time. As long as you have fans going and air moving.
You can a longer cord for ballast.

Well the wire that goes from the ballast to the bulb socket? it doesnt seem to get hott, so i dont think extending it a few feet would hurt


Also planted a mast kush seed today, Wish it luck


Also another question. How big should they be? There about 2 weeks old

Yeah I have mine connected to a 8 foot X cord (heavy duty).

Man those look nice, mine are at day 14 or so and it aint no where close to that. Is it time to start feeding mine?
Also wonder why mine are growing so slow? But ill try and get more pics up soon, as the grow room is now almost done.

Once the fake leafs turn yellow (cotlydon) it's time for nutes (1/4 dose) then they will het the veg state, thats when they take off growing. So don't ruxh them, there just in seedling stage still.

K well i think there getting real close to needing nutes, So i went out today and looked for some, and couldnt find anything close the the npk, that i was looking for wich was 15-10-10, i did find one at 14-6-8, wich is the only one close that is made to be mixed with water. But its maricel grow, and iv herd nothing but bad things about it. What nuets do u use? and where do u buy them from? i dont really want to order anythings from online, and was hopeing to find everything i needed at either lows, walmart, or meijer. But cant seem to find anything usefull.

Anyone else out there buy there nuets from any of those places? if so what do u use?
Also i found a fox farm rep, or dealer that is about and hour away, Is this worth the drive to get there products?

So today i found a hydroponic store, and think i struck gold, they have everything there i could possibly want, and more. And the dued that owns the place even opened the store for me after hours just so i could look around, also best thing is this store is like a stones throw away from my house

But after doing alot of reading i think ima go with the foxfarm grow big, also goin to pick up some super thrive, and thought about getting some of this root stuff he showed me, forget the name. But he said is was like a bacteria that attaches on the roots and helps break down stuff. He said this stuff works great. Anyone ever tried it? if u know what im talking about

Any thoughts? is this fox farm grow bigi goin ti get me threw the veg stage?

I use all FF line up and Grow Big is way better than 3 other products I have used before FF.

I would not waste my moneys on Super Thrive. Never used it never needed too. Look at my garden in album below.

yea iv herd nothing good about ff, and now that i have a place to purchase it from theres no reason not to use it


Also today the liltle baby leafs are turning yellow, wich is when u said to start feeding, Is it going to hurt them if i just water this time, and feed them next water? store dosnt open to tuesday, and there only about 2 weeks now


Also think i lost one last night to not enof water, as i was afriad i was overwatering so i let it go an extra night, but it was kinda all shriveld up this morning, i waterd it, lets see if it perks back up

Get some FF Grow Big and use 1/4 dose for 2 weeks feed every watering, when pot is light.

checked my ph today of the water im giving them and it was 7.2, is this bad? do i need to adjust it? i dont water till tommarow so then ill be able to give the ph of the dirt

Never worry about ph in soil, just water/nutes and what you want is a constant 6.5 but 6.5-7.0 is acceptable.

If thats a 400 you need to have it 20-24 " away.
See how that soil is cracked, bad. The air can rush down and harm the roots. Cover it up with a fork scraping or give water. Looks like it could use a drink.

yea, i always scatch my soil to break it up when it dries like that, and i just watered them yesterday, but i went ahead and gave them a lil drink just to re hydrate the top soil, also there sittin in a tub so it gives the allusion the light is closer than it is, but now that i think about it it might be a lil to close.

How does the growth look? do they look small for 2 weeks?

No thats average for 2 weeks. Give them another 2 weeks and see what happens.

Well today i picked up a couple 3 gal pots, and some really nice homemade soil, from my local hydro store. Couldn't get the ff grow big, since they only carried it in 1 gal, and that was 54 dollars. So he sold me some stuff that he recommended, and the npk values that were similar to the ff. He personally said he loves the stuff, also the soil i grabbed, after transplanting my 3 bananos to the 3 gal buckets and the new soil. i noticed that the old soil was way to hard, as the roots dint seem to have spread very far, the new soil is so much better, i look forward to seeing how well the do in the next week or so

Hey, just read the journal, not bad mate.
Whats the name of the nutes u bought?
You should definitely lower those lights from 20 inches more to like 2 inches off the highest plant (well if you have ventilation, u got any fans?)
Ps: What ever soil is in that 3rd pic you should throw it, looks like mud (no offense)

yea i was told that it should be 20" away since its a 400w,(donno why guess mabey it has more intense rays) and there small still so dont want to burn em, probably will let them grow up to it then keep it as close as i can without burning, and yea i could almost put it directly on the plant, cuz heat hasn't been a problem, got plenty of ventilation also and yea the dirt in that pic was terrible(newbie mistake), that's why i had to transplant them, there in some real good soil now, well at least the ones in the 3gal buckets. Also the nuets are eco grow M, npk 20-6-12, he said he personally loved the stuff


But yea have a seat, smk a , and throw out any thing ya feel will be usefull, Also have a mutant that should be fun to watch grow ( has 3 each node insted of 2, hope shes a girl)
