Great post, growing in canna coco right now, it's an impressive medium!!! I'm using all the canna products AB, rhizo, zym PK and boost. Result are great so far. No questions for now but i won't hesitate as soon as i need something since you seem to really know your canna stuff!

because the plant still needs nutrients for the last two weeks... if you were in soil than i could see cutting the nutes off for the last 2 weeks, but youre in hydro...

i would flush for 2-7 days... you dont need any cannazym but it is ok and safe to use up until the day of harvest if you wanted to use it for some reason, but i wouldnt waste the cannazym unless you were in coco with plans of reusing it.

nice thread------100% organic yields in soil(organic based mediums) can match those of hydro with the correct application of techniques and methods.

I dont want to argue with a Dr. but here is one man that seems to disagree...

This is a quote taken from a article in Canna Talk issue #6 :

he basicly goes on to say that you can come really close with organics, but u cant make everything AS available to your plants as you can with other methods.

idk, I personally have not had very good results in organics/soil mediums but im not really trained in that area, im more of a soiless medium/ synthetic type of guy.

anyhow, not doubting your skills or calling you out, just wanted to share the info i found...

the canna coco is charged with trichaderma (beneficial bacteria) that grow and multiply over time... the longer you use the coco correctly, the more beneficial bacteria colonies you should have built up...

the trichaderma feed on the Coco A and Coco B.
BUT, they are washed away and killed by plain water or water with too much chlorine in it... this why it is important NOT to use plain water or tap water with chlorine.... and your minium EC should be 0.6 to keep your micro life happy and thriving.

DO NOT RUN PLAIN WATER THREW YOUR BRAND NEW CANNA COCO!! YOU WILL BE WASHING AWAY THE LITTLE TRICHADERMA THAT CAME WITH THE COCO.... THE VERY FIRST TIME THE COCO GETS WET, IT NEEDS AT LEAST A SMALL AMOUNT OF COCO A & COCO B. and your ph will have a harder time keeping stable if plain water is used.

once the coco is a few months old and your microlife levels are high, than you could get away with a few plain water feeding as a flush before harvest.

i wouldnt call the coco totally inert because i believe it adds and takes nutrient elements from the nutrient solution on a small level and over time, and i dont think totally inert mediums such as rock or clay would do that?....

I know it starts out pretty inert but as it decays, i believe it starts to have a low EC... possibly from K? and it is known to hog calcium as well.

by the time the coco is a few months old than i would guess that 300-500 of your ppm run off is from the coco decaying.

you can add "great white" to your feeding schedule and it will introduce a lot of micro life (not just trichaderma)... other innoculating products are "vermicrop" and "humtea" ect...

so yea re-using it allows the levels of micro life to build and the micro life feed on the nutrient enriched coco and that helps with nutrient uptake in many ways, as well as breaksdown deadroots and turns them into sugar and they attach themselves to the root ending and then form a chain, which in a way, is making your root system larger than it actually is.

Canna says not to use the coco for longer than 8 months or so, but i only use it for 2 cycles (4 months) and then i toss it...

if you have any bug or mold issues than i would NOT re use it ( thats why i only use it twice... because the longer you use, it the more likely something will go wrong )

if u do re use it, than double up on the cannazym for the last week before harvest... ( 18 ml. per gallon )

hope that helped a little, this is a subject i am still learning about myself...

but the short version is: the micro life eat the complex form of nutrient and shit out a more simple and absorbable nutrients... they do a lot of other stuff as well

BIO TERRA PLUS is a pre-fertilized soil. The degree in which this pre-fertilizing is used by the soil depends on the degree on which nutrients are administered. The pre-fertilizing remains present in the soil, even if it isn't (directly) necessary, the soil will save the pre-fertilizing for when it is needed. CULTIVATION TIPS FOR BIO CANNA GROWERS...

Another really important fact about canna nutrients that i should have posted in the first page is that:

Canna designs their nutrients for tap water with a ppm of 200, and they are counting on the majority of it being cal/mag...

This is crucial if you want to get the results you deserve... After all these nutes arent cheap, and they wont work and be stable the way they are suppose to, unless you have that 200 ppm of cal/mag...

Idk why canna doesnt make this more well known?

it depends on your strain, but usually pk is good to use week 4 and/or 5 of flowering.

you can use the cannazym as soon as you have a nice developed root system.

me neither mate, it should be on the bottle. Or they should have hard and soft water varities. My plants would be suffering bad cal/mag defficiency otherwise, if I had not learned this fact from you quite early on in my grow!

they actually do have soft water and hard water specific lines, but not for coco... they only have it for their Canna Substra line which is for totally inert mediums.

yeah, hopefully they will introduce the hard/soft varities for coco A+B sometime too. But having said that, now I know I need to supplement cal/mag, it is not really a problem.

no, i have just learned a lot about their coco products and their coco.
So i decided to share my info with people who have questions, theeen i figured if im gunna have this canna thread, i better have all the basic company/product info on here.

sooo, now it kinda seems like a advertisment for canna, but hey, they ARE good clean nutes!

but to be honest i am not using their entire line anymore... i used to use everything on the chart at the rates suggested and nothing else at all and it worked good, but my new line up works better.

I have done some experimenting with the following non-canna products but only a few of them made the final cut: ( i used these in substitute for, or along side of canna's coco line)....

the growth rate of roots in coco is amazing. add the rhizotonic to equation and it is truly mind blowing. And I have never seen roots so white. neither in hydroponic mediums or aeroponic setups. I am trying the boost at the moment. what i am seeing is not so much explosive growth, but very even flower growth. I have colas forming that are 60cm long. Also, my tap water has a Ph of 7.0. Wen i add the boost, it brings it down to 6.1....very handy indeed. this is my first coco grow and i am quite impressed.

Okay i should use it about the 4th week in. Im using Fox Farm Grow big and my veg nutrient. will it be okay to use canazym while i use fox farm or should i just wait to use it when flowering begins. Im still new sorry bout all the questions just wanna make sure i understand how to use biocanna
