hey guys, i know people have discussed this topic a good bit, but how many of you actually use a uvb light a little bit each day during budding, and is it worth the effort and money to buy one?

i have heard to use a mh light when flushing for more trich development
never tried it though

i use a 10uvb for 8 hours/day during flowering. 'have observed that the cola sites closest to the bulb produce trichomes earlier and more densely, so i'd say yeah, it's worth the minimal effort and money...

I would like to know more about your experience.... as of right now i am flushing and my plants aren't shiny with trics. i am working with ww and i expect much more

what's your base lighting setup? you need adequate flowering light to start... uvb is solely supplemental...

lol... thanks bro. currently i have 250 watt because of heat issues. I just bought a uvb light today for 5 bucks and i am trying it out. i am in the flushing cycle and this should be an easy test. I have read that in most cases uvb inhibits plants growth and in some pine trees it actually grew more needles. we will see. Putting it in there now!

i think the thing to remember here is, as with so much else when it comes to growing, the golden rule: "low, slow, and steady"!
start with the uvb at c3-4 hours/day, then gradually increase and see if there's any evidence of stress or slowed growth. i expect this will be largely strain dependent (different tolerances for uvb as emergent genetic traits between equatorial vs more northern latitude strains), so you'll want to find out what works for your particular grow... but if in doubt, less is more.
(that being said however, i'm running a single supplemental 10uvb in a 3'x3'x3' box at 8 hours/day and my big girl (auh1 [sativa dominant]) appears to be loving it!)

hey, also i was thinking: how far from the canopy top do you have your 250w? inverse square law might be fucking with your trich development...;-)

maybe (if you're not already) try a cool-tube and get it lower? and if your concerned with adequate light spread for a 'wide' area grow (how many plants you got under that 250w?) then you'll definitely need to either a) get a more powerful light [inefficient], b) invest in a light mover system, or c) grow fewer plants and get that light closer!

in any case, good luck!
