When you're in a position of power, and you let your personal feelings interfere with your decision making you are committing a crime. Yeah he refered them to someone else, but what he did WAS shit on there civil liberties. The Gov't cannot tell you who you can, and can't marry.
Unless you're gay!

Sorry, I'm still reading the thread, but that line just made me laugh.

genocide via the birth canal
resistance is futile
in a thousand years or so they we tell stories of a race of people that ruled the planet
there will be movies and monument constucted, school plays and street named after them
people will speck of the white race the way we now speck of the aztec, egyption, and romans
we will not morn them ,but celebrate them
we will sing songs and tell the stories of there gr8 contribution to the world
never forgoten, not always loved, once feared."

what i was talking about is the fear that whites like Louis541 and the guy from the artical have about race mixing, there no. one reason to be against it is the fear of what i said above. in there eyes the white race is supposed to be pure . if mixed with anything its no longer pure .
and they're right
this is why they put black against latinos- so that we can kill each other- bring our no. down - but it want work in the end, they will fail. the Klan, skin head, nazi , and others who preach hate will all fail., why?, because the person they really hate is themselfes
i am a black man and i love all
im all for saveing the planet, free energy, free love and all that jazz

Here's the real outrage.

Cellular phones cause brain cancer, yet nothing is being done about it.

Instead we focus on the slight injustice of the day
there a lot being done about it its called a bluetooth headset

Race has nothing to do with religion, it's just a fact of life.

Marry within your own race and you'll avoid a lot of problems that come when you marry outside your own race.

If you're only attracted to people outside your own race then deal with the discrimination you will inevitably suffer, without whining about it.

You will not change the world whining.
mixed race relationships have came a long way in the past 100 yrs- i do beleave there will be a time when they want be discriminated on
i would be lieing if i said when i see a mix race couple, i dont stare- but lately ive been saying i wonder what thats like

women on this planet are so sexy, of all types and backgrounds, to me anyman thats says' he would fuck every type of women on the planet is lieing to himself, now i'm not saying fall in love and get married , no , thats shit takes time, if your around someone long einough you will start to care for them

this is the shits!! my mom was a red head, blue eyed french, english, irish, and half American Indian from Texas. came to Hawai'i and married my dad who was half Portuguese and half Hawai'ian. my brother married a Japanese girl, my sister a Hawai'ian, German, English, Chinese, Portuguese man. her daughter married a Hawai'ian, Puerto Rican, Portuguese, Japanese boy. So what the hell is the problem?
my family has Samoan, Tongan, Cook Islanders, Peruvians, Russians, African Americans, you name it and they are family. what is the big deal? we love each other because we are FAMILY!! the only ones, and i mean it, that have a hard time accepting our mix familys are white. my mom left Texas because of the prejudice. best thing she ever did, thats what she would say.

Using the Vitamin D melatonin quotient as a guide.... white ppl who live in sub tropical/tropical regions should mix with blacks and Latinos. White/White marriages should be discouraged....

hmmm. firstly let me say that the gentleman who refused to marry an inter-racial couple should be sacked. there is no place for that in todays society.
secondly i think we should all be treated equally, white, black, yellow (who's yellow). but i do believe that through evolution there is slight differences in us. but this should be embraced! for example even the whitest of white will have to admit that we aint never gonna be as quick as a black guy! lol. and i dont think we will see to many olympic gold medallist swimmers who are black. this is down to bone density. and twitch fibers. but we are all human. and should be treated as such.
thirdly, everyonr should know that mixed race is the way forward. why? because then you can run and swim!!!

science has known this for many many years, our differances if combined (just like we do weed) would make us a stronger race (human race)

Oh, and I live in a largely intergrated community. Guess what...when people live together those stereotypes tend to disappear. One thing becomes painfully obvious. We all face the same challenges. We all want the same things.
I read most of the thread but wanted to come back to this. Oh, and some one mentioned leaving your zip code or something. I just recently did, moved to a whole new neighborhood with different demographics, different financial situations.

I've only lived here about a month, but what I've realized is that we are all just people. I mean... I knew that, but race doesn't segregate people in america too much, aside from people naturally wanting to live around their own kind. It seems like class($) and education separate us more because of the opportunities and the lifestyles that go along with it. People are more comfortable with the kind of people they grew up around, regardless of race. So if you grew up around ALL white people, you're probably uncomfortable around a lot of black people.

We all have the same goals, the same needs, just different opportunities and situations. So fuck that justice of the peace, if he wasn't a gov't official I'd say do what you like. But mixed race couples pay taxes, too and they should be discriminated against.

PONTCHATOULA, La. -- The Tangipahoa Parish justice of the peace who would not marry an interracial couple has resigned, according to Louisiana Secretary of State Jay Dardenne.

Keith Bardwell, who had over 30 years of experience as a justice of the peace, officially resigned Tuesday, saying in a statement to the Dardenne, "I do hereby resign the office of Justice of the Peace for the Eighth Ward of Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana, effective November 3, 2009."

Bardwell drew heavy criticism in the New Orleans metro area, statewide and nationally after he refused to marry Beth Humphrey, who is white, and Terrance McKay, who is black, explaining that in his experience that the children from interracial couples were rarely accepted by society.

"First they asked, they said is this is an interracial couple," said Beth Humphrey, recalling when she called Bardwell’s wife Betty to get married on Oct. 6. "I was kind of shocked and overwhelmed ... I was like excuse me, and she was like, ‘Are you guys interracial?’ I said yes and she said they wouldn't do our wedding."

Almost immediately public officials began decrying Bardwell’s decision. Tangipahoa Parish President Gordon Burgess released a statement condemning his actions. "Mr. Bardwell's views are not consistent with my views or the views of Tangipahoa Parish Government," he wrote in an e-mail.

As the fervor grew against Bardwell, he, however, didn’t back down from his action: "I stand by my decision, and it is my right not to marry an interracial couple, it's wrong," he told WAFB shortly after the story became public.

"I would hope that Mr. Bardwell would consider offering his resignation if he is unable to serve all of the people of his district and our parish," said Burgess.
Betty Bardwell said she did not refuse to marry the couple. "I gave her the information that she needed to get her marriage license and to get her marriage and she got married," But when asked why the couple was not able to get married through Keith Bardwell, she said "Well, for one thing, her life was a little bit too complicated to suite our schedule."
As for whether it had anything to do with the color of the couple skin, she added, "I'm not going to answer that question."
The reaction from the community was mixed, as some recognized racism in society, while others supported Bardwell.
"You want to say that prejudice is not as bad as it used to be," said Gloria Levi, a resident of Loranger, a nearby community. "But there's still a lot of hidden prejudice."
"I think black out to stay with black myself," said James Mulkey, a friend of Keith Bardwell. "I ain't going to say I'm prejudice, then again, I ain't going to let one of them marry one of my daughters."
Gov. Bobby Jindal called Bardwell’s action "a clear violation of constitutional rights and federal and state law."
"Mr. Bardwell's actions should be fully reviewed by the Judiciary Commission and disciplinary action should be taken immediately - including the revoking of his license."

The worst part is, he probably would have allowed it if a white man was marrying a black woman. This guy can't stand the fact that sometimes white chicks will get fucked by dudes who aren't white.
