we have it for a reason. when you are helpful you get positive rep. when you are unhelpful you get negative rep.

how come every time i nep rep, and sign it, people cry? you want to be negative, you get negative rep. pretty simple.

yeah... i never understood why people ASK why they got negative rep when they can just view the post where they were talking shit to someone else.

Not trying to sound high and mighty, but most people are morons.

Sad but true. It's not a smart mans world.
 
Except for that one time when that new dude accidentally posted after you said "If you post after me, I'm gonna neg rep you". See, he wasn't necessarily going to being unhelpful in order for you to neg rep him, you were just going to neg rep him cause you wanted to.
 
I catch a lot of grief when I give neg rep. All it means is I disapproved of the post for whatever reason.

I give out a helluva lot more positive rep than negative, as do you I'm sure.

The way some members carry on you would think I took their birthday away.

I think it's because a lot of people start talking shit in the first place, believing they are in a consequence-free environment. When they discover there is a consequence to their behavior, albeit a small one (neg. rep), it comes as a suprise for whatever reason.:roll:

Maybe its because you have so much rep power that one of your reps completly smashes a users rep?

in my view, it is something that should be used sparingly and only when someone is exceeding the norm in some specific manner. not some arbitrary slap in the face when you feel insulted. people say insulting things all the time here. so, if you are going to give -neg rep for someone insulting you, Mr. Mod, then get your ass busy, and start issuing -neg reps to everybody who insults anyone. or give me the power to -neg rep you (for free), if i feel like it.

just my thoughts. nothing negative, mind you.
