Best weed ever was the Thai sticks going through the S.F. Bay Area around 1979. I've never smelled or tasted anything like it before or since, and the high was just magical. The Thai had a musky incense smell that I can still smell in my mind! It was only around for a few months, but I'd pay just about anything to get some of that stuff again.
Second best was some of the first sinsimilla that came to the Bay Area in around 1977 or so. Again, that stuff had a taste and smell and high that has never been matched in my 30+ years of smoking. We got that from friend's older brother who was going to school up at Humboldt State.
That's a big reason why I'd love to see legalization, because then maybe we could see some actual variety in our smoke. At the California medical clubs, there's so little variation between strains. They all taste and smoke pretty much the same.
Sometimes we'll get something interesting, but unfortunately what passes for interesting around here is the color purple. Purple isn't a taste, it isn't a smell, and it isn't a high. Purple is a color, that's all.
Everything in the clubs is pretty bland and predictable, with made-up names and boring Dutch genetics.
