They do not care if I grow just as long as they do not get in trouble. I figure the less they know the less chance they have of getting in trouble.
Platinum has only mentioned the laws in Ohio regarding possession. Not cultivation. The laws are still very lenient compared to other states, but if you are caught, they will weigh the whole live plant. Roots and all, my friend.
Here is what NORML says regarding the state laws in Ohio:
Ohio - NORML
Say your plant is mid-way through flowering, and you've done a good job. This is wet weight, by the way. You'd probably get no less than a fifth degree felony. Chances are, it would be a third degree felony. Double that weight if you're growing two plants. You'd be likely to get a few years of jail time. Unless the judge is extremely lenient for a first time offender and just decides to fine you for over ten grand and put you on probation for most of the rest of your natural life. This is assuming there are no nearby children living in your apartment complex and you and none of your roommates have been charged with a crime before, especially a drug related one.
Additionally, very few judges if any will extend the conditional statutes to a cultivator. You'll almost undoubtedly be charged with "conspiracy to traffick/distribute" as well. A good lawyer might be able to get you out of that one if there are no scales, marijuana in baggies, or anything of the sort found in your residence. And that's a very good thing, as a cultivation and conspiracy charge would absolutely land you in jail.
I'm not trying to discourage you, but I don't want you to have your head in the clouds and disregard the reality of your state's laws regarding cultivation because of your desire to grow. Knowledge is power, and the information you received before was a bit misleading, though not intentionally. A plant's wet to dry ratio is about 1:10; there are also the stalks, roots, and leaves to consider. If you really think you can do this, great. I'm a bit hesitant to give my absolute, tacit approval because it seems all of your roommates are concerned for their own safety... And it's also very difficult to not tell ANYONE, especially as the grow progresses and your pride in your prized crop grows. It's something a lot of first time growers do. Loose lips sink ships. My approval, however, is not needed nor warranted.
Just keep in mind there is a lot of risk. I'm not in a position where I personally feel comfortable growing right now again, so I'm only growing legal psychoactive plants.
I wish the best of luck to you. But do the research yourself, my friend, and don't believe what others tell you at face value just because you want it to be so. Platinum did mention some conditional situations, but any plant in the flowering period is going to weigh a fair amount.
But if you do go through with it, the good people here at RIU are a wellspring of information.
