Nirvana AK-48 Feminized 600W Grow

First time grower

Me and my buddy are growing 5 feminized AK-48s in a 4'6" x 4'6" x 5' growing space in a wall off corner in the room. Got the lumber from Home Depot to build the enclosure and lined it with panda plastic, lined the windows with panda plastic too. Put in a shelf to hold the ballast, another shelf to keep the nutrients and the HPS bulb for when it comes time to flower the plants. Hung a 600W lamp with the MH bulb in from the ceiling and locked in with little luggage locks since we couldn't figure out how to use the hanging system the came with the lamp, growing in Ocean Forest soil, using FoxFarm nutes (Grow Big, Tiger Bloom, & Big Bloom) in what I guess are 3 gallon pots.

The picture was right when we built the enclosure and hung the lamp. Don't have any better pictures right now but I'll definitely have some posted later on today.

Soaked the seeds overnight last night, they all sunk. Put them in the paper towels this afternoon and left them nice and wet.

Getting about 3 small fans tomorrow to get good air flow throughout the space.

Oh and if anyone knows how I can put the pictures into the text itself that'll be a huge help.

If you want to have a picture in the text place your cursor to where you want the picture and than hit the paperclip icon above and to the right, than upload your pik by going to "manage attachments" That will allow you to upload the image.

I see you have a welltek ballast there. Did u get it on e-bay? Hows it working out for you?. Those AK 's will pop fast so keep a close watch on them. Take that Iron I see and iron your cloths:-P I would move them if they have a chance to accidentally fall on your grow.

Mariners suck

Good luck on your grow

Tried what you said about the picture, see if it works.

Yea I'll probably take them out in a bit.

Thanks for the encouragement.

And we're Griffey Jr. fans not Mariners fans.

Oh and the ballast runs pretty much silent and doesn't get too hot at all. And yes I did order the lighting system off ebay, came with a timer too, got that set as well.

Sorry about the multiple posts, I'm high as hell.

Looks good W C. I too couldn't figure out those fkn yoyo hangers. There junk. I just hung mine on chains, much safer thans string anyways. I also use the whole FF line, soil nutes ans solubles. If you never used them before youll love them as i did. They really pack on the weight and mostly organic aswell. Peace and your always welcome at the club 600. 1BMM

Hey Just starting off I see. Just a couple things I learned early on as I am pretty new as well. The FFOF (Ocean Forrest) is pretty hot soil (High Nutes) so i would recommend (no matter how tempting) not using and nutes except big bloom for three weeks or so, and then start slowely with the Grow Big.
Another thing is if you end up having heating issues, prob not since your top is open, but you coupld move that ballast a ways away to keep that heat out of your grow area. Get some carabeaners for hanging your lights, will make it easy to move up and a lot stronger than those little locks. and also put some panda on the floor. It's nice and easy to clean :) and if you need to light seal your room when you flower panda works great for that too! Good luck.

1BMM any further FF tips woupld be greatly appreciated by me either in my journal or in the club :)

1BMM, MT Marijuana thanks for stopping by.

@1BMM

You're right about the yo-yo's, felt the same way so me and my pal just hung the on some chains and tied up the excess chain with some bread ties so that the lamp would hang just right. And yea I'm really looking forward to seeing what the nutrients can do -- hoping for a heavy harvest over here.

@ MT Marijuana:

Definitely taking it easy on the nutes in the early stages so thanks for the advice. Haven't encountered any heat issue with the ballast really, so far the temps have been around 70ºF lights off, around 80ºF with the lights on. Laid some panda plastic on top off some clear plastic on the floor to give it just a little more insulation for cleaning purposes just like you said so its good to see we're on the same page and I have been thinking about stretching some more panda over top to block out light during dark periods. Also, we put in some green bulbs into that ceiling fan/light if we can't get it sealed off just right.

Pictures later this evening, promise.

Hey alright, thanks for stopping by.

Finally got a good picture of the inside of the grow space (gotta sweep up tomorrow, sheesh) with the light on and the seeds future homes. I've got the pots inside little trash bags which just happened to be the right size for what we were doing. The pot in the middle is pushed up to keep it out of a hotspot. Thermometer hanging on the wall, we put it in with the pots to take measurements though, then leave it on the wall to monitor the temperature of the whole area. Still haven't gotten the fans but will get them before they're needed. Hopefully some of the seeds will be ready to be put in the dirt tomorrow. The one that hadn't cracked yet this afternoon finally cracked tonight, so far so good.

Busy night, 4 blunts. On the work end of the night, we put in 3/5 of the seeds in the dirt because the sprouts were long enough. Watered them. Raised the lamp because temps were running a little high because the weather has been warming up. Getting the fans first thing tomorrow morning. The other 2 seeds should be ready to put in later on today. Stretched the rest of the panda across part of the top of the grow box. No pictures right now but I will be taking some tomorrow after the fans go in and the light is properly adjusted. Going to be using my camera for the rest of the grow so the pics are gonna be much better quality.

Did some more work yesterday, got a fan set up inside the grow space blowing on the 600W lamp and the pots. 3 seeds already went down into the soil, a 4th one went in last night (pics were taken before the 4th one went in) so it'll be a full day behind the first 3, and the last seed should be ready to go in later on today, making it 2 days behind the first 3.

Been leaving a window cracked and the ceiling fan on to get fresh air moving around the whole room.

Haven't seen it yet myself but word this morning has it that one of the seeds sprouted already so we have our first seedling. Temps around 85ºF lights on, 70ºF - 75ºF lights off. Can't wait until they've vegged enough to start LST.

Going to get one more small desk fan for the other corner of the grow space so that we can get the light closer to the plants later on and just have good air circulation throughout the area.

3 seedlings now, all the ones that went down into the dirt 2 days ago have popped. The one in the picture (poor quality, forgot about the camera) looks the healthiest. spread them out away from under the lamp to alleviate temperatures while I go about getting this fan last fan. I want to get into the 70ºF - 80ºF range, and we were running about 87ºF today. So to sum it up, all 5 seeds are in, and 3 are seedlings.

Can't wait to see what they look like tomorrow.

I'm 3 weeks in with an ak-48. FAST grower so far. Good lookin too. You should have fun.
Yea I'm really glad I chose this strain. If you have any advice regarding the plant from your experience with it feel free to share, it's definitely appreciated.

So far we have 4 healthy seedlings, growing pretty fast so that's good. 1 hasn't popped out of the dirt yet, but the ones that have look promising. Going to water all 5 pots later on today. No pictures for this update but I'll try to take some tonight if I remember.

The last seed finally popped, so now we've got all 5 seedlings going. Really impressed so far with the 4 that have been growing. Almost a week in and no complaints so far, the heat has been good for the seedlings, keeping the soil moist, not too wet. 2 waterings so far, going to start with a mild fertilizer mix of Big Bloom later on this week for the next 2 waterings, then probably going to add some Grow Big next week. I hear the Big Bloom is good for moving salts out of the soil so we're probably going to jack the doses up a little quicker throughout the grow to avoid any nute burn from the Grow Big and Tiger Bloom.

8 days in soil and the first 4 are really looking good, hit them with a little bit of water with 1/4 tsp of Big Bloom, used a little regular water for the 5th one (the smallest one). Can't wait to see what they look in another week.

I got one at 45 Days flowering. Probably going to let it go at least 56-60 days. This is my second run with this strain. I started flushing at day 42 straight water and molasses from here on out. This strain is a good yielder. I veged that one plant for about a month and a half..I am looking to get at least 4 zones from here. Good forgiving strain..not to picky. Good luck.
