My first CFL grow.. is it ready to harvest?

I have been growing this thing since early October. For vegging, I used a 26W CFL @6500K. For the bloom phase, I used 40W CFL @ 2500K and a little 13W CFL desklight @ 9500K or some shit. No nutes, just miracle gro "moisture control" soil and whatever was in it. IIRC, I started flowering sometime the first week of January. It should be harvest time, but I'm not quite sure if she's ready. I doubt it's supposed to take this long, unless this bagseed plant is almost pure sativa.

I cut off a nice bud near the cola and let it dry overnight over my computer exhaust fan. In the end, it was not that much better than the buds I sampled weeks ago, WTF?? It got me high, but I didn't get the usual 'rush' when I first smoke and the whole high was mild at best. Then again, I am comparing this bud to the high end sours I usually pick up. I really hoped the stuff off this plant would at least be somewhat close to that.

I just don't get it. Is the bud still not ripe enough, or is it the drying method? This was not a harsh microwave/toaster oven quick dry either, it took at least 12 hours. I know that a traditional dry and cure will make it look and taste better, but will the potency really improve that much? I hope this isn't just some weak ass strain that only looks good.

Anyway, here are the latest pics:

If these pics are accurate, then most of the trichs are cloudy and some are starting to turn amber. With that level of amberness, shouldn't I get a nice high even though the bud wasn't fully cured?

Now for a few pics of the dried bud:

Notice the clusters of amber trichs, or at least that's what it looks like. Damn, I wish I had that scope right about now . Someone has to be able to tell what is going on by looking at all these pics.

It looks ready to me, just take your time with the dry and cure. That looks amazing, i can't believe you got that with only 56 watts of cfls, nicely done:leaf:

that looks excellent for the little amount of light it received. Awesome job. As for the harvesting, I would think it would be ready to go. Good luck man

Judging by the latest pics, she is about done! Everything has an amber tinge now. It's tough to make out the trichs though, probably because I moved the camera or something.

When I harvest, I will start with the colas and top buds cause everything else is barely even getting cloudy. Do I just cut the whole main stalk right under the cola and take the whole thing, branches and all, or should I cut the buds off the stalk and leave it there along with the fan leaves and branches?

To me it look 10%clear 85%cloudy and 5%amber thats not bad but if you want the clears to go cloudy and more ambers for a more stuck stone feeling then give it another 2-3 days

also mollasses helps if you have 5 dollars to spend at the grocery store it should be located next to the pancakes and syrup and use 1tbl per gallon that gives you more sticky buds

thats that chrons chronic for sure
I googled "chrons chronic" but got no results. Maybe it's spelled differently?

Thanks man, I hope it does too.

Yeah that's about right. Just making sure my eyes aren't playing trick on me. I need that relaxing, sleep-inducing body stone so I will wait until I see mostly amber.

She's lookin good the top looks done how long its been??? T@ll tee When can i start using the molasses????
I think I started flowering the first week of January. That means it's been over 10 weeks, hence my confusion over it being done or not. I sampled some buds and got high, but it wasn't that hard hitting, drowsy, sexual-pleasure-heightening "drugged" high I am looking for. Maybe it's cause I quick dried it, maybe it's lack of amber trichs and thus CBD.. who knows.

Hmm I head of that, but isn't it too late to use it if I'm harvesting in a few days?

this is awesome man, given the amount of light and no nutes.
It amazes me far far more than those plants grown in spaceship-like growrooms with a million watts! :)

I'm no pro but since the plant's quite ready, just drop by the "harvesting and curing" section of this forums and you'll find your answers :)

Thanks, and same here. Cannabis is called "weed" for a reason. It's not hard to grow at all, although I still think I got lucky and ended up with a very hearty strain. Of course those insane grow rooms with 4000W of HPS lights produce better weed, but not everyone should be expected to afford that, let alone have the place to do it.

Already started a thread in the harvesting section. So far, the concensus is that the plant is ready. I know I can harvest now, but I want more of a body stone and I do not see much amber. I just hope the pics aren't deceiving, leaving me with an 'amberized' plant that is slowly creeping towards the too late to harvest window.

I absolutely agree (I'm LSTing 2 plants with 125W mixed Ks CFLs - so not far away from you), +rep to your achievement, and wish you to get the high yor're looking for :) bye ;)

So my mind is pretty much made up. I will harvest the colas and tops tomorrow; half will be hung up to dry and the rest will go straight to water curing! I took some more macros last night although I was too late to take any in sunlight. Bringing the 40W 2700K CFL closers to the plant allowed me to take a couple of interesting pics.. in that light, the trichs look totally amber! bongsmilie
