I would....but then I'd have to leave my principles behind... That's a deal breaker for me.

SS ... I hear you...but I didn't say we could just run up there and grab some.... it will take WORK and EFFORT....but we have to START first.

The reason the moon is such a great place is because it is right on the surface. the earth does have it....but believe me...if it was JUST as EASY.... it would have BEEN DONE ALREADY. the fact that the ppl willing to SPEND their CASH to go to the Moon means that the Earth option is less tenable to them. I will rely on their expertise.

This issue is an opportunity to WELD the GLOBE together..... and is probably MORE important than the actual mission.

The world, more than ever, needs some focus. This is the perfect thing to focus on....the Moon. While that focus is maintained.... the global bickering will seem petty in comparison.

Russia...we NEED you.
China...we NEED you
EU....we NEED you.
Middle east ...we NEED you.
India/Pakistan...we NEED you.
S. Korea....we NEED you.
Africa...we NEED you.

We all NEED each other to accomplish this leap into the FUTURE.

It is an OPPORTUNITY like NONE OTHER that has passed by before.

North Korea.... we don't need you...pound sand..

Obama is making us space tourists.....

Is that leadership?

Looking inward ... and seeing faults.

Instead of... looking outwards ... and seeing possibilities.

I agree with everyone of those points -1.
But I find a very different conclusion from them.
I find it shows little, if no basis for a race to the moon.
You list Russia and China as the top yet, you criticize them the most!
Worried about given Russia money for a couple trips to the ISS?
Worried about China getting there first, is not how friends or partners or neighbors or even acquaintances act.

I don't want to WELD the world together though! That's the NWO mission statement. LOL!

I would rather Meld the world together.
Welds are stronger then the entities they join, kinda like shackles!
(I should know, I've had my share of ankle jewelry.)

North Korea, we don't need them......... they need us!!

I know this man is a great mind.
But,

To assume that children will lose motivation for exploration, is comical.
Ever raise a child? (Curiosity is inherent)
With the first telescope and some mathematics we got Galileo.

We actually set our sights farther to a bigger frontier. Manned interplanetary travel!

so what kind of utopian pipe dream has CJ conjured up by saying all countries of the world should unite together and go to the moon... shit.
i can see how that would work out already. one country is going to get pissed because its flag is 1/4" shorter than another countries flag on the meeting table, so country a walks out of the project. since country a got away with it, country b soon follows suit along the same lines....

if nation states could willingly work together, than this might be possible... but not in todays world.
there's too much bad blood.
sooner or later an incident would spark a conflict.
kinda like the un today, fucking useless bureacracy

Well, you are starting to catch on..... they are NOT our allies, and NEVER have been. Don't think that when I say top contenders I mean "friends". Both govt's are seeking to overcome us.... MAKE NO MISTAKE.

Ppl need a vision....ppl need focus. With Obama's vision of space, we aren't in it... scaling down....scaling back....to divert all into the welfare black hole which is socialism.

No $$$ for real vision.... no $$$ for bringing everyone TOGETHER.

You all must not have lived through the Moon Program.

Kennedy was able to harness the country with the moon missions.... sure there were plenty of problems going on down on the planet, but the Moon missions galvanized the country...it gave a purpose....it gave us a positive reflection of ourselves. It gave the country some thing to AGREE upon.

This is the lesson that escapes Obama. Or he doesn't want to galvanize the country...only to divide it.

Feel united today?

The only way the treasure of the Moon has a chance to be SHARED is if the USA gets there alone or as a team effort. If China goes it alone.... if you think it's going to become planetary community venture.... you are naive.

So take a good look at one of the last images of our "being a contender in space" .... period.

In a few years...the country will be just like California....where FDD is happy..... broken and unable to continue without outside assistance from the countries which "love" us..... don't hold ur breath for that one.

Taken this morning.... one of our last gasps at excellence.....canceled for welfare.

One kind of happiness cannot be purchased...if that's what you mean.... I get you.

The other happiness is having the POTENTIAL to improve urself....and others. that is what is disappearing....and is rapidly disappearing in california.... business is fleeing.

The numbers can be twisted but not made to evaporate. They are closing in.

When did you ever say top contenders?

Folks.... this ONE issue could bring the entire WORLD together!!!
Sounds like someone is looking for friends here.:-?

So, "...we NEED you" (not as friends?)refers to a need of control:confused:
As in,.... We NEED you behind our ideas.
You might as well have said "...We NEED to control you".

Or you propose a race to the Moon will somehow solidify tainted relationships in a positive manner?
That's illogical by all means. and I'd love for you to show me a model where a race brings the top oppositions into a more friendlier state.

You know, the future of space travel will come from the ISS.
That's what it's for! It's the biggest most expensive thing we humans have ever built.
The President has insured it wasn't all for nothing and in fact solidified our presence in space.

Think for a moment of the design possibilities of spacecraft built in space......

And The President has insured that it will still be properly funded, regardless of Bush's plan to de-orbit just 4 years after it is proposed to be completed in 2011. That's quite mad considering talks that it will be usable around 2028. And the fact that more pieces are being put on there constantly.

In fact, Bush's policy of ending the ISS has led Russia to form a backup plan without us!

China has stated that it wants to cooperate with the USA in space.
In fact they tried to get on-board with the 16 other nations on the ISS. This was back in 2007.
But, the Bush Administration stated it wasn't going to let Communists into space.

Sure shot ... you keep running over the same old ground....

China and Russia are NOT our allies.

The world is in a state of CONSTANT COMPETITION ... DEAL WITH IT...

You indicate that if an issue as big as this COULD make them our allies, at least in a greater sense, you are AGAINST it.

You either aren't thinking it through or you cannot.

I'm tired of having to explain basic knowledge concepts.

China has stated ON ITS OWN that THEY intend to go to the MOON. Years ago this was stated....nothing new. And this is WHY they stated that years ago....they are NOT taking us along.

I propose that the USA be BETTER than that. Be the magnanimous ones. That's the only way to show every nation that this is a real opportunity to help solve alot of problems and bury alot of animosities.

Oh right....that's a bad thing...

Great ideals there....
