if u guys want faster and better germ rates just add a few drops of hydrogen peroxide to half a cup of water and drop ur beans in. this usually pops them over night and usually 100% pop. amybe its the extra oxygen produced? but it works

leave them be. if they are viable they will eventually pop. but its hard to tell with 4 year seeds. the longer they are stored the lower the germination rates.

for the best results put a few drops of hydrogen peroxide in half a cup of water, drop ur beans in and place them in a cupboard if the seeds are fresh they will pop overnight, older seeds take a little longer.

Im going to start growing outdoors in march or april. What is the best way to start the seeds and how many should i start? and can i put them in the ground right after they sprout?

Don't know if this is the best way but its always worked wonders for me. Take one litre of water which has been left to stand overnight to get rid of the chlorine. Add 1.2 ml of Maxicrop seaweed plant stimulant. Adjust the Ph of solution to 6.5. Take a shot glass and fill with solution. Soak seeds in this overnight. With the remainder of solution soak the substrate you will plant seeds into eg. coir, rockwool cubes etc. Next day simply plant seeds about 3 mm deep and they will sprout in three or four days provided they are good seeds and kept at the right temp. 21 degrees celcius. hope that helped

Here is what i do i use 16 oz plastic cups for all but automatics they like deep cups to start for long tap root. To germ i trace acup bottom on to a piece of terry cloth like bath towel cut it out, then i fold paper towel make suer part of circle include fold so opens like a book cut it out places seed between paper btowel with terry cloth on top and on bottm place in 1/2 inch cup bottom filled with distilled water wth one drop of thrive. Leave over night bean will be submerged at this point place on a heating pad . The next day i poor off all water cover wth a cup monotor every am keeping moist with sprayer. I do everything on heating pad for three weeks.

i've germed seeds by putting in small mason jar half full of h2o and sitting it on the wood stove. i had seeds to sprout in as little as 4 hr.s using this method. it's been a while since i've done this, but it works. (using heated water)

I use the 20 oz plastic bottle/paper towel method. Make the water level 2-3 inches below the seeds, and put them in dirt when they stretch up about 1/2 inch. Just enough so that the baby leaves are above the soil when you plant. You get a very high success rate and they take off pretty quick, I'm surprised it's not a popular way to start seeds.

mogie start in a pot at least 4 inch deep auromatics like deeper dont plant seed 4 inch deep will never come up plsnt between 1/4 1nd 1/2 inch deep but i read same thing somewhere i think add was on improving percentage of females .

I'm new to the mj growing but I've been farming veggies for years. I tried my green bean/okra/corn/ect method on my mj seeds and got 100% germination and after planting got 100% growth. I boil a kettle of water to get rid of impurities/chems and let it sit until room temp. I then warm it back it to "luke warm" *NOT HOT*..... and put it in a thermos. Dump your seeds in and 24 hours later (not more than 24) open the thermos and check 'em out. They'll look like tadpoles! I planted mine in plastic cups filled with potting soil and 4 days later EVERY cup had a plant in it. From seeds to seedlings in less than a week. Don't believe me? Get some bag seeds and try it yourself..... The thermos keeps the water nice and cozy and works every time for me.

I was thinking why cant you have the best of both worlds. Just make a little pit in your dirt ad soak it a little and put your seed in there. Couldn't you just keep it moist and that way you can actualy see it pop and then pour a lil dirt over the top afterwards. I donno it seems okay-ish to me but im still very green to all this and not in the good way.

I've always thought that starting in a paper towel was like moving an embryo from one womb to another!

I put my potting soil in 16oz cups. I leave about an 1 1/2 of space at the top. Put the bean in the center, then poke it down about a quarter of an inch with your index finger. Then rake the soil back over the top. Take a spray bottle and saturate the soil pretty good. Then, I cover the tops with clear plastic wrap. This creates a greenhouse effect, holds in the humidity.

I then put them in a dark cycle for about 30 hours, in a warm place around 80degrees farenheit. Then I put them on 18/6. I just did five seeds, 100% germinated, and they poked through in 3 days. Take the plastic off when they break the soil.

People I can't get my seeds to sprout using the paper method. Probably because the area im keeping it in is 15Celcius. Does the seeds have to be in a dark place? Because atm i placed my seeds in a greenhouse tray using the paper method. It is being heated underneath and covered with a towel to prevent light reaching in the green house tray.

Viable seeds need moisture and warmth (about 25 - 28 deg C is good) to germinate. It doesn´t matter if they are in soil, paper tissue, rockwool or whatever. Some people soak them beforehand, doesn´t do any harm, but I have never found it to make any difference, either.
Nor does it matter if you put them in the dark or not.
What does matter is that they are mature seeds - grey or brown in colour, thay can have spots or stripes as well. And they are not too old - I have found they lose viability after about 5 years.

Place the rolled damp paper towels into an appropriate sized Zip Lock bag and blow up with your mouth and seal (adding Carbon Dioxide to the Air). Then I put the bag in a sunny window sill. I re fill the bags with CO2 every day and check to make sure the towels stay damp. After 5 days I unroll the paper towels and take out my sprouts and put them in dixie cups.

I don´t think blowing your breath into them will make any difference whatever to germination of seeds, but you are giving them the two essential basics, moisture and warmth.

Dont know if it does but using this method has gotten me good results and i think blowing up the bag, if nothing else, increases moisture and warmth like you said. Makes a ghetto greenhouse. Thanks for the info spanish fly.

jiffy pellets plant the seeds right in em' i use a heating mat and germination station. also you can use the pellets to grow until ready to transplant
