Quick??About Ph

ok so i know ph should be around 6.0-6.8 (average from what i read my self)
my soil is pretty alkaliney (just a tad bit under max) and my water is 4.3. i have no baking soda. whats another household thing i can use and what should i make the water to even the soil out?

...go to the store asap and add rapid dolomite lime , 1 tbls per gallon of soil as a top dressing and water in as normal. Make sure everthing going in is "in range" and you should be cool. Good luck.
...as far as house hold products, I wouldn't do it. That's just my opinion...I'd get the dolomite asap.

ok ill for sure be making a trip in the morning to the hydro store. what else can i use though for soil if i cant get dolomite lime ? would ph up/down work for the soil too? or would it be better to up the ph of my water to 8.0 so that it evens out the soil?

no just use normal ph'd water . 6.5-7. ph up and down will work. but it will only stabilize your soil for that watering for the most part. dolomite lime is the only thing that will keep it in check. This is just my guess. I have no science on it

...your soil's pH will swing up as your soil dries so you'll never have it dialed in 100%. Ph in soil is maintained with dolomite lime, you'll have no problem finding it.

And with the dolomite in the soil, the pH of the water is not a large concern. The dolomite will correct it in the soil.

Look in Lowes or HD or the like for powdered dolomite lime, $5-$9 for a 40# bag. The hydro shop will overcharge by 10x or more.

As was stated, it is very common everywhere, just make sure you get the powdered and not the granular/pelletized or hydrated.

thanks i got some garden lime, organic, threw it in my mix of soil and brought the ph down to 7 now the babies are in jiffy pots since the soil is super moist. gave them all some super thrive feed but not alot since the water was so moist. i also added sub culture m for root development. let me if im doing anything wrong. also it was hard to find it in my area lol.

DO NOT USE pH UP&DOWN... Will kill your micro beasties! Your water is a 4.3? Damn... where do you live man a cypress swamp or something? Just water with Distilled.
