Are autos really this slow?

I've got 5 automatic hindus and a 60-day wonder that have been in the ground for about 9days (outside). Their first set of leaves are just now about the size of the cotyledons, while two Jack The Rippers sprouted on the same day are beginning their 3rd set.

They're only getting about 6hours of full sun, and do appear to be growing. was just expecting them to be faster than this.

So I take that as a Yes? And in 60days I can expect what? Maybe a third set of leaves and a nickel size bud?!

I thought these autos were supposed to be getting better.... but apparently they just suck. I'll get Docs Iranian next time.

I'm sure it's not ideal but that's what I'm trying to figure out.... I don't really have anywhere better to plant them right now. I was going to hide them between the tomatoes which gets 12-14hrs. But they've gotten unruly so I had to resort to a flower bed that only gets indirect light half the day. I've got one in a pot that gets more light, maybe 10-12hrs but it's not really any faster.

I dunno maybe I'm just expecting too much from them outside. I could run it under my HPS for a while, just seems like a waste of space though.

whiteflour, I notice you're in Socal as am I. Honestly, I have not been impressed with my yields so far. I think a significant amount of blame can be placed on the uncommonly cooler temps we've had in Socal for this time of year. The cooler temps stunt their growth. The good thing about autos is that we can just start another plant as it warms up. Which is what I'm doing. But yeah, I've been looking at an Iranian Auto thread on this site and on another site. They take a bit longer at 90 days, but it seems worth the wait while still being an autoflower. Those seeds are a bit pricey if I recall, tho.

crazy thing to try. leave the potted one outside for sunlight and bring it in for HPS light eveyother night. So it would only be getting darkness everyother day? Might improve your results

Hey pablo your growing on a balcony? How much light are you getting there. That little nug tree don't look bad actually.... I could deal with that!

I'll try bringing the potted one in for a bit and see what happens.

Well from what I understand autos need light, lots of it, some say 18-6 is okay but 20 -4 or 24-0. If your in and out and one day 12 hours of light next day 18 hrs light (out and IN /H.P.S.) that can stun the plant even if it has no photo phase (being auto). What ever you do, do it everyday the same way , don’t change it from day to day 18 hrs of light is good with 6 hrs of direct sun and 12 H.P.S. , thing will look much better in no time.

Yea I'll have to figure out a schedule for them but I could probably manage 24/0 for the one with some good time management. My main problem is I've got 40 seedlings under my light now which doesn't leave much space for another 1gal pot, and I'll be pushing them 12/12 in 3-4 weeks. A bit before the autos would finish.

Hey whiteflour, yeah I've got a cool little setup with growing on my balcony. They get sun all day, not sure how many hours exactly. I recently installed the lattice, which cuts down on the sun a bit at certain times of the day. That little "nug tree" was grown later in the year with longer days/warmer temps. I'll just keep trying different strains until I find one I like. The easyryders are fairly low maintenance, tho. Just gotta keep an eye out for the moths/eggs/budworms.

Well after bringing the one inside I've decided they are not meant for outdoor that's for sure. I've still got 4 hindus and the 60-day wonder in the flower bed, still growing slow as molasses.

This one was brought in just after the post and has been under 20hrs of HPS since. It was about 3" tall til yesterday or so and then it stretched out and started budding.

These are 3 more hindus I popped about 2 weeks ago. Those outside are actually smaller than the smallest one here, yet a week older.

my lowryder and blueryders were extra slow they stayed at the 3rd notde for like 2-3 wks then i killed a few of them being pissed and 1 finally took place after a month didnt get shit for some odd reason go through my threads i have pics posted i had 1 16" long main cola and a couple side shoots. only got an 8th off the whole thing. i wouldnt bother unless your doing like 20 of them and i had it in a 3 gal pot with 400w hps.

they do start slow get going wround week 3

but 6 hours light a day is not enough they normally take 20/4 or 18/6 and are very happy to produce for you but 12/12 or less they are not happy

light mongers more light more yield also like root stimulator does not like transplant does not like full nutes show sek 3 weeks done around week nine but but go by trichs water first two weeks 1/4 strenth week 3 working my way up to 1/2 strenth by week 5 thats the max for them every other water

and they will be happy
and make you happy

So flour your blaeing the autos? You should have known they need 18/6 or more. There meant for indoors
Nope. Don't blame them at all just not the kind of growth I was expecting outdoor. I'll actually be crossing the outdoor hindus since their small so I plan to grow em out again. :)

They get more than 6 hours a day. They get 6 hours of direct sunlight another 10 or so indirect. It's more of nighttime issue I suppose.
