it's sad that someone who seems to want such good things for the communuty is so misguided as to how to obtain them. less reefer madness would lead to less blacks in prison. i'm white as rice but i know that weed is a top excuse around here to harrass people in general, and of the harrassed, blacks usually top the list. it's really quite a waste.

Agreed. This guy does not represent Black people. He is definitely not in tune to the Black youth. I smoke pot, I'm Black, and I got to college and make great grades. Pot is not the root of Black problems. You have to be able to handle your habits. Get your shit done and then you can chill and smoke. Don't let it run your life, it's that simple. Better parenting is definitely a must. Make sure your kid has solid values and work ethics and they'll be fine. Also monitor the junk your kid is watching/listening to. A lot of the rap songs on the radio are pure bullshit and the artists should be shot for putting them out. Just my opinion...

To say that marijuana influences the socioeconomic and cultural deficiencies that African Americans experience is just untrue.

Access to education, employment, housing and healthcare are what African Americans need to become more successful.

Ironically, taxing marijuana would raise funds to improve schools, create jobs, expand programs for the poor and lower the end costs of healthcare for California citizens.

maybe they could use the money they save busting pot smokers, and the money they make in tax to fight the real drug problem, crack, heroin, ect

really they should legalize all drugs, and fight real crime. don't take drugs from all of us because some people can't control their habits. i know hard working, productive addicts. i know a guy that has smoked crack 12 years, he isn't stealing and sucking dick for rocks, he works and is a great guy.

Poor sap, he should study before going on TV and making a fool of himself. To suggest that a billionaire bought the NAACP's support (which I believe supported the movement towards legalization before this billionaire guy), is just silly.

NAACP's reason behind supporting the move towards legalization: "Huffman said African-Americans are disproportionately affected by the criminalization of marijuana which makes passing the law a civil rights issue." - CNN

Also, I didn't catch exactly what religion this bishop affiliates himself with, however it is a fact that the Pope declared cannabis use to be sacreligious, perhaps that has skewed his view and he is just bullsh*tting to keep himself aligned to the Pope's view.

SERIOUSLY, I totally agree. I am also a college student who makes great grades, has a card and smokes almost every day. Cannabis has nothing to do with devaluing a human, negative influences in the growth process of a human on the other hand...

IMO, it's kind of like growing a good pot plant: if you give it the best environment with the best nutrients, water, light, air flow, medium, weather, non-harmful predators, love, and surroundings, you will get a healthy and beautifully superior MJ plant while growing the same seed in an environment with less than the best, you could get close to nothing, you could end up with a male which probably isn't what you want. So far in history, African Americans in general have been given less than the best for their growth process (food, water, shelter, environment, love, education, etc.) and so, more often than not, you end up with less than the best humans. This must be changed with more education. But again, this is just my opinion based on observations. :peace:
