What would be better 200w's in cfls or 1 x 400w hps?
HPS is the way to go for sure, but lumens are a measurement of light intensity seen by the human eye. It basically comes down to light penetration like DoeEyed said.milwaukee - ganjaluvr is correct...
Hps will give more lumens per watt than cfls... hps is the way to go and you will notice a BIG difference
If lumens could add up like that, they are far less important in growing than people believe. Anyone ever used LED's? I use HPS and have no experience with LED's.hps, no contest, especially since your thinking of using half the watts if you went with cfls. Ive got 10 40w 2700 lumen cfls so they put out 27,000 lumens total while my 400w hps puts out 55,000 lumens. if 400w of cfl is torn up by the hps 200w will be even more torn up.
But with expensive LED's they can be as good as HID's correct? Not going out and buying any but just wondering.lumens are very important if you have more space. CFLs just don't have the light penetration and are more for smaller setups. spectrum is not a problem if you use MH instead of HPS during veg. the only LED lights that are good are extremely expensive because you need a lot of them. if you want huge, ultra dense, high times cover looking buds, hps is the way to go as long as the other conditions are right.
I just started following this LED grow: https://www.rollitup.org/grow-journals/345308-600watt-led-hydro-gro-op.htmlIf lumens could add up like that, they are far less important in growing than people believe. Anyone ever used LED's? I use HPS and have no experience with LED's.
Lol if I could afford it I would buy it all and have different growrooms. 1 outdoor in a nice greenhouse, one using HID's, one using LED's, some soil, some hydro, and the list goes onsame here, i like the idea especially with them producing almost no heat and using so much less electricity. heat can sometimes be a huge problem with HIDs. but for that money i would rather buy a CO2 tank and control unit.
