Cloning from clones?

Everywhere I'm looking, I see people taking clones from (seemingly) dedicated mother plants.

Now I'm wondering....
Why not when you take the clone,,, don't you just finish the mother into flower?
Then when the clone gets big enough, repeat ( and so-on & so-on).

Seems smart to me for a small grow anyways.
Grow 3,,,,, clone. While clone becomes of age (cloning) the mother is flowering.
Seems like the timing would be perfect (Kind-of).

Then one could run a larger flower set,,, and a significantly smaller (room wise) rooting / veg spot.

Looked all over and don't see anything on this idea mentioned. So, I assume it's not good for some reason(?).

Anyone thought / tried it?

There is no reason you can't do that. A lot of people lollipop plants before flowering anyway, so they are removing would be clones. A lot of seasoned growers like to have a mother plant around because even though seasoned growers clone at 100% most of the time, it doesn't happen all of the time, and there is no point in risking your prime genetics. They may also keep a mother plant around if they are going to need a lot of clones instead of just a few. If they aren't vegging very long the new growth may not have time to fill in without being partially flowered, or the cut could hurt yield.

If cloning in from clones works for you there is no reason not to do it.

You pretty much just described my op. I cut 8 or 9 clones usually, then veg the donors (which are all clones too. ALL originated from a single seed a while back!) for a week or two, then flip 'em to 12-12. Then, once my clones have rooted, I put them in FFOF and veg them under CFL's for a few weeks. By then, I'm ready to clone again and my previous set is ready to harvest (I forgot to say, I have 2 flowering rooms). I did a shitty job of describing my cycle, but it ends up I now harvest 6 to 8 plants every month consistently.

Anyway, hell yes you can do it the way you are thinking of. There is NO reason you can't make it work --- I did!!!!

Yeah, I always 2+ cuttings from a plant before flowering. I usually give it a couple/three days to recover and make sure the clones are going to take. You can never have too many clones :)

true and from my experience usually the ONLY reason a mother is flowered and a new mother started is because the old mother gets too TALL or large. They don't just sit there, they get bigger and bigger, and bigger.....

Yep, I don't like to have plants in my veggie garden taller than 18", I like my light at the height it is.

LOL! Exactly why I've been thinking the way I am. After the cloning, super crop etc. for the heigth a week or so before flower.

Mr. Greenjeans-
I think we are on the same page with this.
Thinking of one with CFL's for rooting and starting (low).
One for veg (topping etyc.) Probably with 18" of heigth. Not sure yet about the light in this one.
One for flower, probably around 2'X2'X4' with HPS/MH in the 400 watt range.
Been a sporatic outdoor grower a few(?) times but for "reasons" I'm not feeling comfortable with it anymore. So plan on moving indoors.
Space is limited. I'm looking for the biggest bang for the buck.
Purely a personal med grow. I'm looking at 2-3 well endowed (quality) gals every couple mos. or so. Most likely to be determined by the flower time of the strain used(?).
Oh,,, I'm leaning towards a dirt grow. but, that's not cast in stone yet either because I'm still learning / studying / planning. LOL

Thanks everyone for your input. Greatly appreciated and all willbe taken into consideration as I move along with my plan(s). - Thanks.

not sure 100% but ive heard a few times that if you keep cloning from a clones you start to lose potency but i thnk you can get away with it a few times
