Everyone has there own mix that works for them or are u a newb like me trying to figure this out.
I started in FFOF straight. Here is what I'm going to do on Grow # 2.

60/40 - FFOF and LIght Warrior
10% - Chunky Perlite
10% - Mushroom compost
1 cup -bat gauno
1/2cup - dolomite lime
1 tbsp - mycro (the herd)
1/2cup -kelp meal
1/2cup -bone meal
1/2 cup-blood meal
:peace::peace:
Straight FFOF holds to much moisture for me and it compacts bad ! I,ve read good things about mixing it with Light Warrior . I think this mix along with the chunky perlite will make it drain better and be lighter and more airy.Mushroom compost and bat gauno provide some good mycro organisms in the soil u cant buy. Along with the added mycro I think this mix will be a good enviroment to harbor some good mycro herd life .:joint:

Btw This is for an organic soil grow .

wow. way over loaded mix. why add anything to a mix that is already hot. usulay people only make a mix form using a soiless not a soil, and your adding orgainjcs to a non organic mix and wont work right.

ah ya..sorry, but why add more to a hot mix,. its gonna bite ya. thats why that stuff is so costly. dont need more. is the perilte organic...not all is

This is a mix that should carry all the way through. Watered with compost teas. No commercial mixed nutes. I dont think its too hot I have seen many mixes similar to this .Perlite adds no value to npk so it doesnt matter if its organic thats like saying your pots plastic so your grow isnt organic.
This is a famous soil mix on this site by a vetern grower i,d say its hotter than mine.

8 large bags of high quality organic potting soil with coco and Mycorrhizae
25-50 lbs. of organic worm castings
5 lbs. of Blood meal 12-0-0
5 lbs. Bat guano 0-5-0
5 lbs. Fish Bone Meal 3-16-0
¾ cup Epsom salt
1 cup Sweet lime (Dolomite)
½ cup Azomite ( Trace element)
2 Tbs. powdered Humic acid
*** If using an RO system add in 1/2 cup powdered Cal/mag

PERLITE: A silica derivative - no nutritive value. Keeps the soil aerated and retains some water. Sterilized.

There are different sorces used for making perlite . Everyone has different values because of the source although synthtic perlite has no values.
For what u posted thats not alot of calcium.
Anyways this is off base i dont care if perlite is organic or not . I just think this was a good topic for everyone to discuss.I looked at your page nice plants! You and i just have different methods of growing.Thank you for the tips +rep

im not trying to insult you. if i came off that way i appologize...just here to pass on info. yes all perilite is diff. my point wasnt the organic. its when adding more to an already ballanced mix it meesses it up. it messes the C.E.C. and then we dont know why ph goes all over.

myself i like pro-Mix HP works great on its own or amended.

and when we dont need much or any cal in soil thats alot. we usualy have enough alone in our water sources. usualy only ones that need more is in coco. or a sik plant.......fixes damaged cells.

ys it is a decnt topic. but we need the right info to help.

What would be a good way to cut the FFOF to make it drain better ? Thats my Number 1 issue with it .It has been holding water for 5 days in 3 g pot with a 3 ft plant.

nothing. dont water so much. when a spoil is made there is something called C.E.C. cation exhycnage. and this all needs to ballkance or it will throw the ph in there out out. when adding amendamants we need to know the cec of each item. and its ph and ppm. everything has a value.

this is why i hate soil...besides it way to expensive. hell i get 107 liters of my stuff ofr 25 buck...that fox farm stuff is crassy prices for what you get.

also maybe you packed the soil a bit much. how much water or food does it take each time.

for me in my mix. in a 1 gal i get 1 day off.,..in a 2 gal i get 2 day between food or water. if we dont get a good wet/dry cycle then the ph drops in medium and we see burning tips from lack of food.
i have a few homemade mixes all organic ill post up soon. has all the N/P/K value to each with it to

mmm Mabey i did compact the soil somewhat when i planted . As for watering after a good soak takes atleast 5 days to dry out then i use roughly 3 solo cups of
water .

I use a mix of sphagnum peat moss, potting soil, perlite, vermiculite, bone meal, blood meal, garden lime. I am thinkin of adding some guano and possible worm castings. I have used this mix for most of my grows and had great success. WORKS 4 ME!!

ya if your only using 3 solo cups and its taking that long it needs more airation. could use coco to fluff it up since its nutral.

for me all i use if pro Mix on its own. its just fine. this run i did cut 2 to 1 with coco to see if it helps with my o2

my 1 gal pots im watering 2 soslo cups right now in my journal and takes 2 days to dry. so on mon is a water or feed then again on wed then fri...so on. in my 3 gal once i flower then i only get 1 more day of dry time and i add alot more water to. sometimes up to 3/4 of a gallon
