Lets talk YEILD: Skunk#1 vs. YOUR BEST

Hi I just wanted to know what other strands have you guys run across that yields more than skunk#1. I have dealt with these beauties and they have never let me down on yield. So which strain do you guys think can top Skunk#1 on yield alone?

I've never grown all the way to harvest, but i am curious. What are you yielding with skunk 1?

when i grew it I yielded 2 ounces but my plant was a bit over 4.5 ft...... i really was impressed with the yield

I got like 62gramms off a 2.5foot Top44. Indoor 400w. What lights did you use?

i used a 400w MH... im still a noob but compared to the other stuff ive played with like mango and papaya nothing has thrown as much..
what do you mean by "Top 44"?

I dont have any pics now but.... there is a "new cake in the oven" that I will be putting on display soon. I would most definetly consider HPS... what is your experience in using those lights? and what difference have you noticed in using them vs MH?

From what i read HPS have longer lifetime than MH.... but you kinda loose color rendition. MH is the complete opposite you loose lifetime but gain color rendition.... but besides that not really sure of results in usage becuase i never used HPS before.

Bigger BUDS. Growth in veg can be slower than MH. But resin production and bud mass are insane compared to MH flowering. Im not sure about bulb life. Most people i have spoken to say from 6-12 months but it really depends on the brand bulb. Most places offer you the "budget" version and that last 6 months. You can get better ones that last way longer. I think its the same with MH. Its all about the bulb. But definatly consider investing in a HPS you wont be dissapointed.

I havent heard about the cool bulbs ay. Sounds a bit dodgy but would be awesome. You can get bulbs called HPS conversion bulbs that will work with a MH ballast. I think theyr a little more expensive than you standard. But definitely cheaper than buying a whole HPS setup.

i believe you're talking about cool tube reflectors. air is blown over the bulb and heat is passed through ducting and out of the grow room, keeping things cooler.

no, you cannot use hps in a mh, unless that mh has an x3 line (which essentially makes it a hps ballast ,not mh). if it has x3, you can add in an ignitor, and you'll have hps. but without the ignitor, the hps won't fire up. there's even a risk of fire if you try any way.

you can use mh in a hps ballast, but the ignitor will kill the bulb prematurely.

The conversion bulbs loose alot of intensity and lumnes and cost about the same as a new ballast.Figue a new digital switchable ballast at $99 and it will run either bulb no need for conversion just stick in the mh or the hps and it detects which it is.

this is a cool tube. i have a couple used ones in the attic i wouldn't mind parting with if you're interested. shoot me a pm if so.

imo, 2oz per plant is measly, and means you need to work on it. granted, i don't know how long you veg for, but the 4.5 foot figure makes me scratch my head....

in soil, 8 weeks of veg, i pull 2-5 oz per plant on most strains. some are less, hardly any are more (veg time+soil).

however, i did one dwc bucket and yielded 15.5 oz bone dry, the strain was dreamgoddess, which im fairly certain there are no seeds available anymore.

Well, i did a grow of gold skunk, not skunk #1. but i can say that gold skunk yielded as much as big bud and had a sweet skunky smell and taste you grow skunk for in the first place.

wow you all are making me excited, i got 2 skunks #1 over 5.5 ft tall under a 600w holx....i was speaking to someone who yielded 3 oz a plant with 2 plants!!!

i found that sk1 also has, very good harvests, plus they very easy to grow.
my first grow,i grew, venus. second sk#1 and 3rd too.
the venus had bigger buds, and was 2 times the thc, than sk1.
out of my last sk#1 grow i got 1 plant that looked smelled different, and was an all round better plant, dont know why, but it was out of a sk#1 packet.
i think sk#1 is one of the easyest plants to grow, and good for begginers, and old hands too, i will grow this strain again.
cheese came from sk#1 by acc. its a good old fav. just not too strong, like some of the other strains.
here are some of my pics, of one of my sk# grows, i grew 5 this grow under 400 hps, and got 2 to 2 1/2 a plant, but vegged for 5 weeks, and flowered for 10 1/2,weeks. pics are of 8 week 12/12. before i started to flush.

yes you should have had double the harcest if you vegged, and they were so big, mine were only 2 half foot, and i harcested 2 t0 2 half per plant.
better luck next time, but i think you need more lite, i even think these plants, i grew were too big, they were lots of waste. i think if your going to grow big plants, you need some lite to get to the lower parts of the plant, other wise just the top colas get all the good rays.
thats why ive started to top because, only the top cola gets all the best lite, so ive topped 2 times now and have 4 main colas per plant.
