I wish you would take the time to at least read the first post of a thread before posting comments! Thats an entirely pointless remark because I have just moved from clones to seed plants specifically for this grow!

lince, my little SW is just 8" tall so far. I'm loving seeing her so short and if I can get a box full of these dwarf plants I'll be very happy. The soil is quite heavy, no perlite and the pots are narrow. Also the seeds were buried a little deeper than usual so had to fight the way out. Lets see how it goes with the Master Kush and if this theory holds true? Bottom watering means I can feed directly to the roots in this heavy soil without having to overwater and clog the medium. The root mass is clustered around the drainage holes.

Few more pics of development. The MK are coming on well and again very short in the stems.

Hiya SICC, it should be good to watch her buds fill out, but I seem to be more interested in her root development, I want a solid mass like your PC's !!

I'm lovn it MS!! Your little soil hempy hydro type grow is kickin it! How long do you lett them sit in water when you feed?

So far so good!, looks like their forming a good root mass already :)
The seedlings are coming along nicely as well.

I just want to fix some dates on the plants at this stage for future reference.

Snow White germinated around 3rd August and went straight under 12/12. So shes now 33 days old. She showed first pre flowers on 25th August.

Master Kush. Both germinated on 21st August so are now just 15 days old.

I hope to start a third strain next week. Greenhouse Cheese is out of stock so I'll go for another Nirvana strain, possibly a cheese strain.

Gumball, SB, all I'm doing at the moment is adding small amounts of water/feed daily to the containers and putting the pot back in to let the roots suck it up. They seem to be loving this so far and there's no chance of over watering, I can see that most of the soil mix remains quite dry. I'm now bubbling the water in the bottle for half hour before adding it, I'm not sure how well this helps to oxygenate the water but I assume its having some effect! I'm still using only the organic fishy/seaweed and its well broken down now and totally stinks when I open the bottle so I've diluted some with fresh water and PH'd it down. I'm using plain water every other watering. Like I said its a daily exercise but takes just a few minutes. As you can see the Master Kush roots are already trailing out the bottom after just 15 days so I must be careful not to let them dry out completely. I guess the key is that you have control over the roots and the soil this way, I'm using far less water overall than by conventional top watering, my aim is mainly to keep some moisture a round the roots without soaking and clogging the soil. remember I can at any time remove the paper cover and examine the roots and the soil, you can tell just how much moisture is in that pot :-) generally the water is gone within a few minutes of adding it to the container.

My aim now is to squeeze maybe 5 to 7 pots in there, all very small and tight, we will see how it goes and how the MK develop. So far the SW is staying tight and I'm giving the top a very gentle 'pinch and bend' over daily hopefully to stop any stretch.

oh ok, thanx for the info, thats a pretty cool way to water, and it cuts down on worrying about over-watering and all. I may give this a try, again thanx, everything is looking good as always!

Hey MS im back dude, everythings sure looking good at your end, love the way you have gone back to using some old teqniques and it looks like its paying off :)

Im wondering if you have any ideas of the N-P-K of the mix your using? i expect it varies alot but maybe on the net somewhere you could find out.

MY MK looks very much like your, should have a new journal running later :)

Hiya mate,

I wasn't able to get to a large garden centre for the Westlands, the seeds sprouted fast so I had to get what I could locally, reluctantly I had to go for the old John Innes #2 but actually I really like it, its sandy and heavy but the roots seem to be enjoying it so far, well as you can see they are growing out the bottom like crazy!!! No perlite was added.

Still feeding just the fishy stinky organics, when it breaks right down I replace it and dilute the stinky stuff :-) Still bottom watering and bubbling with an air pump before feeding\watering.

Heres some pics, the 2 MK's must be close to showing pre flowers, maybe a few more days or so. The SW is beginning to flower nicely and she's still just 10" tall! The MK's are also staying very short and tight, just 5" right now but well spread. So far so good, short plants, no sign of a mite and good rate of growth. Yield is not a major issue for me, I'd be happy to pull a dry Q per plant in all honesty but I'll pack in as many as I can. Once the MK's show sex I'll introduce the next 2 plants.

Looks great MS! So how are you handling those roots, you just gonna leave 'em? I wouldn't they would have enough water at all times to stay alive, but again you prove otherwise! Happy growing!

awesome! i love how tight together the nodes are MS, and that SW really is gonna look like a lollypop when shes done :weed: i cant made my mind up if im gonna leave my ones alone or do some lst, but being me i dont think i could stop myself lol

Loving this 12/12 from seed so far :) sex shown in under 3 weeks and lots of regular harvest!! cant beat it. small regular harvests beat big irregular harvests anyday!!!

Ever thought about putting in a lil color to your grow with some blackberry? or some other colorful beauty.

I just gave the SW a good feed SICC as she is yellowing slightly from the bottom. Bio Grow at 4ml/litre. Overall though she's pretty happy. I'm still getting a feel for this method of watering but its certainly pulling those roots down.

jjmd, I used to have a beautiful Purple Rhino pheno with deep purple calyx so yes I would love to see a bit of colour back again :-) I also recall a 'Durban POison' sativa I grew about 10 years ago and she had amazing deep red pistils from first pre flower to finish, every single one although the calyx were green! Never ever seen that happen since! Anyone ever experienced that? The buds were beautiful as you can imagine. Some of those 'blue' strains can also produce nice colour if your lucky.
