Hi all, I'm 2 weeks into the flowering stage of my first grow and would be really gratefull to recieve any advice or feed back on my current setup, which is as follows:

Grow room is 1m * 1m * 1.7m high. The grow is inside a closet in a spare room and it vents into the attic space, i pull cooler ambient air in from the other side of the attic using ducting.

Maxibright 400 watt ballast with 400w sodium bulb.

Metaglo mylar sheeting.

150mm inline fan (exhaust).

6"Clip on fan (ventalation).

2-4' Chains w/ S hooks.

2*Grasslin segmental timers.

Thermometer & Humidity dial.

Terra Professional Soil.

5 Litre standard round pots.

Canna Terra Flores.

Seeds: Blue Cheese Barneys Farm (Feminized).

I've inherited this grow so to speak; a friend tried himself and failed producing approx 6 ounces from 6 plants, all were grown in normal garden centre compost and each plants was nearly 1.2m tall, using a 250w sodium bulb and feeding his plants baby-bio during the both the vegative & flowering stage!!! Luckily, a healthy plant was taken during the vegetive stage and placed in another closet under a 250w blue crl bulb. 9 cuttings from this mother have been successfully vegetated for a total of 4 weeks and since then they have been thriving in the above mentioned room for 2 and a half weeks on a 12/12 cycle. They currently stand 2 feet tall, with buds forming rapidly, crystals are already abundant forming on both the leaves and the buds. Every 3rd day each plant gets 5ml per litre of canna flores nutes added. The plants are kept a minimum of 8" away from the lamp and the room temp is a consistant 27oC and 50% humidity during lights on. I'm thinking of starting to use some pk 13/14 also? Any feedback or advice on the above would be warmly accepted.

Thanks alot people.

Ahh, I'll have to have a look at reducing that tomorrow. Does the high humidity harm the plants in anyway or is it more a case of reducing the risk of mold and bugs etc?

I guess it comes down to more about bud rot.

A lot of humidity can cause it but 50% humidity is not bad at all.

You just don't want a sopping wet grow room 70-80% is too wet.

In that case I'll just keep an eye on it and worry if it exceeds say, 55%?

Have you every used the Canna PK 13/14? I'm thinking of using it every 3 days, the day after the Canna flores, just for a few weeks before I get towards flushing the soil for 2 weeks at the end of the crop?

you can spray your plants with organicide a product that you can find @ home depot.. it will protect against bud rot, mold and powder mildew. commen with high humidity

Thanks reggaerican, I'm just gonna keep a close eye on the plants for now and hopefully I won't have any probs with mold etc if I can keep the humidity around the 50% mark that is. I live in the UK and there's a hydro shop about 10 miles from where I live so any probs I'll be heading straight over there for some pest control. Fingers crossed I won't need too.

Nice avatar by the way, what breed is that? looks like a pedigree staffy?

Um, organicide is an insect killer!

Has nothing to do with humidity levels.

And seriously, why spray something on your plants to even try and prevent bud rot. If the problem is humidity then LOWER the humidity!

well what if a dehumidifier is not in the buget but $12 is?? and yes if used as a preventative it helps with all those issues.. bank on it

DownOnWax I'm not putting anything near my plants unnecessarily, no way man, I hope to control the humidity and keep it below or at the 50% mark thus preventing any bugs or mold. Last thing I wanna do is load up my plant with un-needed chemicals which I presume using common sense would taint the taste of the buds also? However I have just been reading about a product called 'Bud Rot Stop', it suggest the use of it 'encourages the plants own defense system to become active'. Not that I believe that, its like wrapping your car in bubble wrap incase you bump it and scratch the paintwork! lol
