Welcome new school organic growers. This thread is for the new school organic growers who are into:
soluble organic products, liquid and dry.
soil-less organic potting mixes, ie bio terra plus.
advanced organic systems.
hydro organics, (ie natures nectar).
indoor organics under high yield situations (ie CO2 and lots of light).
light manipulations (not that new school but worth covering).
sealed indoor environments (CO2 and climate control).
advanced yield techniques AYT
bubble hash (is that new school? doesn't really matter, I <3 hash).
local organic farmers, and farmer's markets because I love them too.
pretty much anything you would consider to be new school organics.
new school ways to smoke/vape/consume that are clean and pure like your organics deserves.
vegan organics, (link in my signature).
butane-less smoking, (ie solar, bee line, wood match).
super flushing, (in soil-less).
weird energy manipulations like singing to your plants and crystals.
biodynamic practices, (not new school at all but interesting and should be here somewhere).
lunar cycles (not so new school, but worth bringing in on this thread).
molasses + microbes.
organic soluble products of the future (ie mayan microzyme microbe starter).
the california concentrate scene (CO2 extracts, O2 extracts, Sonic separations, Delta 9, full melt bubble, even 'tane).

Old schoolers: I appreciate everything you do, but PLEASE, lets keep this strictly positive and about new school organics. We all appreciate what a proper soil-food web can do with teas. SB 420 allows us to recover our expenses so buying products can be fun experimentation for some. Indoor gardens further allow us to do crazy things, like messing with light and CO2. NEW SCHOOL ORGANICS ONLY PLEASE. Thank you all for reading and contributing.

I got so much +rep for bringing plant based organics back into the light that I thought I would go deeper.

I'm trained in energy work for therapeutic and spiritual purposes, and my plants definitely respond very well if I use energy work on them.

This isn't really "new school", but it's l;ittle known and growing in popularity recently, so I can see it being considered new school. It's about taking organic to the next level - it's called biointensive gardening, also used to be called biodynamic, which you listed, and I've heard the term "french intensive" as well. It came about in the 60s and 70s when organic was a new, big thing, but being the 60s and 70s, there were some real radicals and they tended to go WAAAAAY overboard with the stuff(to the benefit of the regular people). They basically put all the different organics methods together, figuring out what works and what doesn't, and which things work best together, to come up with the perfect means of growing massive amount of crops in very small amounts of land, while being completely self sustainable. This includes the use of raised beds, zero soil compaction, companion planting, crop rotation, composting and mulching(including specific crops for better compost production), green manures, specialized plant spacing methods, and a whole bunch more things that I can't even remember at this time.

A good book on the subject is called "how to grow more vegetables" by John Jeavons. This has been the definitive resource for biointensive gardening for years.

AWESOME! Hope to hear more from you about this, as you are an expert. I would love to hear more about how your plants respond to these not-so-scientific methods. I know it is not new school, but energy manipulations are something used heavily by the new schoolers so I wanted to bring that into this thread too. Big up!

Just as a clarification, my first statement regarding energy work is not related to the biointensive method of gardening in any way. You sorta put them together and in reading my post I can see that it sorta looks like I did too.

You need to quit putting a label on everyone and everything. You need to stop calling everyone who doesn't do things exactly as you a hater, or whatever. You need to quit outwardly anticipating that what you say is going to throw the 'oldschool haters' in a tizzy. It would be nice if you didn't make four or five bullshit posts in a row. It would also be good if you didn't start a thread about 'everything', they might actually develop into something of substance if they aren't intended to be about 50 separate topics that mean very little when taken in unison.

If you want to contribute information or suggest techniques, why can't you do it and leave the pretentiously pompous attitude out of it? Maybe you don't think you have to be so serious because this is 'just an internet forum', but few people are going to take you seriously when all you seem to be about is rambling, calling everyone else a hater and being grandiloquent in general. Certainly you might want to show a little more respect towards the board administrators. His posts are not welcome? Oh please.

Okay, I'll start with an easy topic that everyone already knows about, before getting into the not-provable hippy ideas that I have. And I'll also start by saying that f you look hard enough and pay the scientists, you can find data to support and contradict just about any idea. So for those who want to deny the positive affects of music on plants, please start your own thread.

"History:
Amateur botanist Dorothy Retallack studied the reaction of plants exposed to music in her book "The Sound of Music and Plants" published in 1973. The book showed the significance of her study of plants listening to different music in three different biotronic control chambers at Colorado Woman's College in Denver, with the result that they did better with classical music.

Research Results:
Retallack's study has been replicated by other researchers over the years. For example, researchers at China Agricultural University in Beijing found that strawberry plants stimulated by sound waves grew darker leaves, blossomed and bore fruit quicker and were more resistant to disease...

Significance:
These results show that farmers may be able to increase the hardiness and life span of their crops by exposing them to classical music. The type of classical music they play should be soothing and positive."

I sing and play reggae for mine ;) sometimes I play "sounds of nature" for them. Sometimes Dean Evenson meditation tracks.

Mythbusters did a test on playing music for plants - Death Metal produced the best results in comparison with many other genres, including classical and "soothing" types. I do realize that the mythbusters tend to use far less scientific method than a real research foundation or university would use.

And they surely did not test Cannabis. If you look you can find both sides to every argument. DO YOU SING OR PLAY MUSIC FOR YOUR CANNABIS?

My favorite herb at a local dispensary is grown by a mother/daughter team. They wear white robes and sing to the plants as the lights come on, every day. Their herb makes me happy, like none other. They also do all sorts of other hippy stuff that I plan on covering.

The other studies that you posted didn't test it on cannabis either - I wasn't even trying to refute the benefits of music for plants(the plants on MB with music did better than those with none) yet you respond with this "you can always find both sides of the argument" bs? Ugh. FDD is right - drop the attitude bro.

TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION, NO I DON'T SING OR PLAY MUSIC FOR MY PLANTS BUT I DO TALK TO THEM SOMETIMES WHEN I'M TENDING THEM, AND LIKE I SAID, I DO PERFORM ENERGY WORK ON THEM.

If anyone does actually play music full or prat time for their plants - I'd be interested if they took the same wattage that stereo is using and put that much more light onto the plants to see which came up with better results.

Uhhh, okay. As I said before, I'm really into ganj that has been sung to, and other energy manipulations. I don't mean to argue, but scientific studies tend to contradict each other, those posts were just general info on music and plants. Have you tried reiki on plants? How do you feel about touching them as part of energy manipulations?

Hey thanks guys, this thread is as much yours as mine! I want the ideas to be shared, and I don't care who contributes, so long as it is part of the opening theme. I left this thread pretty open ended so many people can contribute. To the others: if you do not like my writing style and posts please unsubscribe...what else can I say? I'm sorry we do not get along.

I don't touch the plants, and I hae heard that they prefer not to have their bodies touched, but I don't know if I believe it. Personally, I don't want my hands covered in resin and I don't find it necessary to do. My style of energy work is similar to reiki, but I don't use the symbols associated with it, and I don't really like the "pyramid scheme" sorta feeling I get when I look at the heirarchy of reiki teaching.

The idea of the two ladies that sing to the plants every day is pretty cool - if I were able to be a full time grower, I might try to do something like that with energy work.

On a similar note, I'm of the opinion that something like that, with people singing in person, as opposed to a radio playing, would be far more beneficial
