Leaves curling upward and lower leaves are white/yellow color

Hello all, I started out 6 plants from bagseed in soil then transplanted them into my aeroponic system about 2 weeks later.
They have been in the aeroponic system for about 2 weeks as well and recovered from their initial shock.
Now the lower leaves are white/yellow in color and the otherwise healthy looking leaves are curling upward longways. Plants are all 3.5-4 inches tall
I am currently using:
-GH micro 5ml/gal
-250W MH light
-Pumps run 18/6 (same as light)
-7 gal res
-light is 1.5 ft above plants
-temp:84 F and humidity around 45-50%

I believe that either it is a nutrient problem (I have been meaning to purchase the GH bloom to supplement more nutrients)
or maybe the fact that my sprayers are on all day is preventing the plants from getting enough O2.

If you have any suggestions please let me know. This is my first time using hydro/aero so please set me straight on what I'm missing!

I was able to lower the temperature to 79 degrees and I heightened the light to about 2 feet from the plants. The leaves haven't gotten better and there seems to be a purplish color forming at the tips of the leaves. Any Ideas as to what would cause this?

stay her with some phed water and turn the lights out let her dry and turn back on do this maybe every other day.

So I bought the GH Bloom nutes and added them in at 10 ml/gal and everything is looking better. the signs of heat stress went away (weird) and growth is back to normal. Plants needed that phosphorous! Now only question I have is whether or not to pluck off some of the nasty looking leaves? Some of them fell off with barely touching them so I figured they would fall off eventually anyway. Any opinions on this would be greatly appreciated.

thats not heat. its food. you only had 1 bottle of 3 needed. not getting the rest of the food it needs. thats a phios deff the curling brown stuff

check the ph of the water also have you been adding nutes? she looks to be a bit over fed from what i can see in the pics hope i was to any help =]

over fed???...he only used micro and no others. no way its to much,. he was missing 2 other bottles of food to make a full feed.
you do need to know the pH though. and light seems far away

Ok so I am using a feeding schedule based on someone else's grow who was able to use only 2/3 of the GH nutes. I'm trying to save money in every way possible so I decided to go with it.

Veg= micro:5ml/gal and bloom 10ml/gal
flower= micro 8ml/gal and bloom 16 ml/gal

I am following the veg nute guideline right now. I cannot afford a ppm meter (though I wish I could) and the pH strips say everything is exactly a 7 (water w/ or w/out nutes) which indicates to me they aren't working properly.
So if I cut the dead parts off, the rest of the leaf will grow back or will it just be a leaf with cut ends over time?

if you dont user the foods the way they where meant to be used of course they wont work. no offence to the guy telling you its fine but dont listen to that. if we only ate apples and oranges the rest of our lives we wouldnt be to healthy either till we ate a full diet....same thing here.

take leaves off if they are about half way damaged or more, they wont come back but half will still provide enegry to process the foods..less and it will take away from this. dont relay need the ppm meter and them strips arent accurate at all. they only read by a .5 scale i believe and we need to be tighter than that, then adding 2 coloured foods togetehr makes a 3rd wrong colour so its not even the right colour when using foods. water is close cause its clear. think of it like adding red and blue foods togetehr...we get purple, so it will always show wrong colours.
and we also never use 7 for anything. dpends on what the medium is, a soiless, soil, coco, or hydro to what he right pH window is.

so i see your first post says soil...,what is it ..brand?

so soil is pH between 6.1 and 6.5`ish. strain and room dependant. 6.3 is a good one to start at. never move the pH for water or food, always use the same. and dont move it to bring run off up for pH also. it has lime in the mix that does this on its own. just keep running water till the run off is near to 6.8. this is what most soils or soiless is set to as new and what we want to try and keep it at or as close to as we can. if it goes down then they cant feed right and we get tip burns and defficiencies.

these last pics i see them in the cloning sponges and a tub. what are you running in water or soil. and if soil why is it like that.

this is a nitrogen deficiency. add a veg nutrient. you may consider botanicare, as you can get by with just the basic veg and bloom bottles, but the plants will do better with cal-mag and liquid karma added.

Ok Sounds like I'll be scrounging up for some grow nutes. So instead of pH strips what else can I use? pH meters are a little pricey from what I've seen.
The plants started out in soil but when they got about 3 -4 inches tall I transplanted them into an aeroponic system. Technically aeroponic has no medium but I have mine sitting in Sure to Grow cubes with roots hanging down the reservoir. I still need to get an airstone before the roots get to close to the sitting water.

Do you think that Botanicare is more effective than GH? or is it just a matter of preference in brands?

a pH pen is probably the most imporant toll youll need. and by going all over with mediums has also added stress and issues to them. pH for hydro is down at 5.5. and this is in sitting water, not moving or pumping the water. should be full of pathogens by now then. you need your right eaquipment before you can grow. shopuld have stuck with the soil. never mind brnads of nutes now. need to buy the right stuff before worrying about what nutes to use.

Yeah I realized that changing mediums would stress it but honestly after puting the aeroponic system together I felt like testing it out. I'm not a serious grower yet. I'm not expecting anything amazing from this grow but I'm trying to get everything tweeked out before I get serious about it. The roots are being sprayed by little sprinklers inside the tote. the roots are not in the water. but eventually the roots will probably grow long enough to touch the water. From what I've read you need an airstone in the reservoir to put O2 in the water. otherwise the roots will rot. Is this correct?

personally, i prefer botanicare, as they are mostly or all organic, as opposed to GH. many have great results with GH so i won't say it's bad... but i'll say it's touchy. too much of this or that will kill your plant... botanicare is hard to screw up, and not to mention it's cheaper. plus less salts, so your ph should remain more stable. as a final note, they flush out of the plant easier. as far as the ph testing goes, i started with the GH liquid ph tester. it comes with a little bottle of liquid, a test tube, and an eye dropper. it's super easy to use, and really cheap. i picked mine up at a store, and after the retail markup it was a whopping 11 bucks. on that note, after i ran out of the liquid (6 months after i bought it) i picked up a Hanna PH Checker 1 for $35 at http://www.horticulturesource.com their prices may not be the same, but the meter is easy to calibrate and use. they were so cheap i bought 2 of the ph meters and 2 tds meters ($17 each) in case one broke. they come with a 5 year warranty, and the only time i sent one back is when i dropped it into my reservoir. i've been using them for over a year now.

i have moved plants through all sorts of mediums, and never had an issue. especially an aero system, as you are only lightly misting the roots, and the medium will have little if any effect on the plant's ability to absorb nutes. currently, i transplant my rockwool clones to DWC for flowering plants, coco coir for mothers, but i've used soil and aero systems in the past, again with no stress from the transplants. transplant may shock the plant, but in the proper environment the plant will recover in 1-3 days maximum.

Ok well if what you say is true for botanicare then I think I will prolly go with that. Is it ok to mix GH nutes with other brands? or are they only exclusive to use with a certain series of nutes? Like can I mix my micro and bloom GH nutes with the botanicare grow nutes?
That's good to know for the GH pH test kit. I'll definitely look into that. Thanks a lot for the specific information.

-to all posting here thank you a lot for your help! This forum is making this so much easier.
