First time grower...Opinions and suggestions welcome and wanted.

Hey H,
I'm getting negative pressure.Anything I put in front of my passive intakes sticks right to them (paper,cloth,etc).I still get some smell though...maybe my carbon filter isn't a good one.I bought it from HTG supply with a 4" exhaust fan setup ---> http://www.htgsupply.com/viewproduct.asp?productID=52531
I looked at phresh filters and a few others,but they were way more expensive and I had spent so much on the grow already.My fan doesn't have a speed control.Don't think I need one since the fan is only 170cfm's for a small tent.I understand what your saying,but I'm still getting a smell from the tent.So I use the other things I mentioned to cover the lil bit of smell that is still coming out into the room.I have no way of exhausting the spent air from the tent to the outside of the Apt.
Some one mentioned awhile back in my thread to try and use a carbon filter pad to replace the fabric softener sheets I'm using.I picked up something similar today that I'm going to add to my box to help cut down the smell.

What will help greatly instead of all sorts of scented things stashed and hung here and there is just either an Ozium or Ona spray dispenser. Buy two, put one in the grow area and the other in communal areas where folks hang out on a high shelf somewhere. Those sprays are ment to handle lots of odor;Ozium was created for hospitals and industrial areas to help eliminate smells and not just cover them with fragrance. IOW, they do what febreeze claims to do but actually work. You can set the timers on those little dispensers for 9,18 and 36 minute intervals. Some of them have motion sensors. I don't recommend going to a hydro store to get one. They wanted $65 for the dispenser/spray combo. Walmart had that for $6. They don't sell the ozium or ona there so just pick up the cans of spray at the hydro store and buy dispensers at wally world

Awesome lookin' plants, Low! I've also been researching on RIU for the past month to start my own grow. This is, by far, one of the best first time grows I've seen! I'm actually using your journal (much obliged) as a guide. But I had a question or two. First of all, what was the cost for all the nutes, and soil? I want to do it the way you are, because let's be honest...those girls are gorgeous! Second, for your water, did you start buying distilled or bottled water at any point, or just use water from the sink and let it sit for 24 hours? Thirdly, how often do you water your plants? With nutes, and without? It's every other watering you do, you add nutes, correct? That's it, though! Thank you for this loverly journal. And I can't wait until the next photos!

And I hope you wife is/is getting better! =)

Fox Farm Ocean Forest is completely organic potting soil. I'm using it for my grow as well. Although I have no previous expirence with any other soil, the pants seem to love it.

The cost of nutes and soil are probably going to be different where ever you buy them.I paid like $20 for a bag of FFOF (organic soil) and $7 for bag of perlite.The FF nutes cost me like $20 a quart.These prices are from my local hydro store.I plan on buying my nutes next time from amazon.com.They have the FF nutes trio pack for less ----> http://www.amazon.com/Fox-Farm-Hydroponic-Nutrient-Trio/dp/B000HY4CLW/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1286288937&sr=8-2 .
I used my regular tap water pH 7.8 for the whole grow straight from the tap.I watered every 3-4 days during veg and 2-3 days during flowering.Check the top few inches of soil to feel if its dry,and check the weight of the pot.I fed every other watering and started my nutes light,working my way up.Like everybody says "read your plantz" they'll let you know what they need.

It may be tricky for me to hide a grow tent so I'm thinking about using an Ikea cabinet and lining the inside with mylar and then cutting holes in the back for the ducts. Just the cabinet is pretty small and rectangular instead of square. I really want to grow 4 plants under 400W like you're doing. The pics of your tent seem to have some space left over but not so much. Do you think I can do your kind of 400W setup with ducting and filter and everything in a space 23" deep(ouch) x 30" wide x 50" tall(ouch again). I wish I had the space your tent has but I'm still hoping to fit everything if its possible.

My tent is a Grow Lab GL80 Tent-Factory specs. 2'7" x 2'7" x 5'11" tall. Actaul size (width and depth of inside tent measure 2'10" x 2'10")

Its hard for me to answer....there is some space left in the tent when growing 4 plantz.I plan on trying to fit alil more in the upcoming grows to maximize my space.Along with some LST...

Watered the girlz heavy today in the bathtub.
Starting to see amber trichs.
Looks like a cal/mag def. after I stopped giving them nutes. You can see it more on the Master Kush.
Hope I didn't stop the nutes to soon before harvest.

Thanx NCG....Sorry to say the wife isn't doing so well.I'm sure the upcoming harvest will help her a lil.She's having trouble keeping her pills down and we're smoking some crappy weed at the moment that doesn't seem to be helping with her nausea.

Your welcome.....When I say heavy watering I mean like a light flush.Normally a real flush would have you using 3 times the amount of the pot size.Example...I use 3 gallon pots,that means I would run 9 gallons of water through them to flush.I do a light flush.I put them in the bathtub and run 2-3 gallons of water through the soil every few weeks during the plantz life.But I make sure they're dry between waterings and feedings.I take my time so they don't overflow and the water leaks out the bottoms of the pots.

I just bought a bag yesterday for my next grow.It says natural & organic potting soil on it.

I assume you don't live in a MMJ state, or else you'd have better meds for the wife. One thing you can do is derive some hash from your trim and put into gel capules. She won't have to eat anything with them and they're very easy on the stomach. Excellent for pain relief, sleep and nausea. They're very easy to make too. Brake up half a gram of hash into each capsule and drop olive oil into the cap so the hash bits are suspended in it. Put the other half of the cap on and swallow. It won't work with just hash, as you probably know the cannabinoids that we're after are fat soluble. So if she can't have olive oil, any other cooking type oil should do. I take one of these the night before I have a day off and I'm able to catch some mad ZzZ's..And you go to sleep hungry and wake up hungry .

Right about the state...Kool idea with the capsules.I bought some bubble hash bags to make a lil hash.We were thinking of trying to make some cookies or brownies maybe.
