1 Day after inoculation. Untapped holes. Contaminants??

so i was a complete an utter dumbass stoner....

after i knocked up 12 jars yesterday around 2 or 3. i forgot to put tape over the holes.....

i put tape on the holes about 30 minutes ago.
you think ANY of the jars will make it?

i usually do stupid things when im stoned but this is probably the stupidest

Were you doing the BRF tech? If so then the vermiculite should've sealed it.

Harrd to say if they will make it , all you can really do is wait n see, if you see any discolourd mold inthere throw out the jars!
there should only be white mycelium.

yessir. i used PF tek. brown rice flower and verm.
i did use a pretty thick top layer of dry vermiculite actually.

thats what i was thinking that layer is for.
but then i was doing some more research today, (which i should have done 100% before knocking up the jars in the first place) I noticed the tape and forgot....im still laughing AND kicking myself.

but i hope all goes well and we will see in a few days if the jars are fucked or not.

haha glad to hear someone has shared my stoned stupidity while knocking up jars in their mushroom cultivation days.

anc, you only wrapped tin foil with no lid? meaning you knocked up your jars with the lid on then took it off and put tin foil on it?

NO dude, it went through the PC with the foil on, I normaly cover the lids with foil to avoid condensation running in through my glasswool plugs. It was taken out of the PC and put into a coolerbox to finnish of colonising, after which I discovered it. I don;t know how I didn;t register the fuckup while I was knocking em up, but then again, I sometimes smoke grams a day when my back hurts.

Last brf jars I made I forgot to wipe the rims because I was stoned. Had to pour out the verm, wipe em, then refill em.

I always leave a verm layer top and bottom.

I always forget a step somewere.... also I never use tape on the lids, I might start but never have. I also have a jar right now that I forgot and put just foil on it with out the lid also haha

So you just made tiny holes?

I normaly just drill a 10mm hole in the centre of the cap and stuff it with polyfill (the white wool stuff that goes into aquarium filters), this serves as gas exchange and innoculation port. Whole lid is covered by foil during sterilisation to keep water running in through poly.

yeah I see people do that but I haven't ever done it. I just leave the lids on lose with holes I made with a pretty big nail, but still small holes just for innoculation. i guess its time I start but I have had relativly no contams from syringe innoc'ed jars so i just haven't changed anything,

4 days into incubation since inoculation and there are signs of fast growth and NO contaminants.
yay!!!!!

Awesome, should be all good now, contams normaly show themselves before the myc gets a good hold... kind of how it wins.
