I have 4 auto aks goin at the minute with a 125w red spectrum cfl and a 20w uvb reptile light, thank god he was answerin it for you I would have been shittin myself the whole way to the end with one 125w and it not doin the job :D The haze sounds nice man heard reports on it, I went for ak cause I wanted a sativa with decent yeild and at the time I was buying the ak's seemed the best option. Is it just one light your using yourself?
 
Jay how did the runt develop in your grow? I have a runt ak and it's further along the process than the big girl but way way smaller, height wise she's still at the same height as the little ones in the bucket. Very nice set up too by the way how would you grade the strains?

Brilliant haha what you think you'll get off her? 6" thats mad I was expectin small plants but yours looks like a mini beast :D Just want to know cause mine seems to be goin the same way.

you need to ease up on the watering mick, the fan leaves shouldnt sag like that, other than that lookin good, also you can move that CFL far closer.

I dont think the uvb light is to good for your plants mick, there is some info on uvb light in small doses in the last few weeks of flowering stresses plants into producing more resin. Not shure if its fact or fiction tho.

But uvb all the time is defo not good for the girls.

What ak are you growing? Serious?

Might be worth havin a gander on his website so man, he's doing a few gigs around Ireland at the moment to premote the new film, so you might catch him yet!

He was such a legend at the show I went to, really really funny in the first half. Then he took a twenty minute break before the second half - which was mostly questions and answers - and came back absolutely baked!
 
Just the one light for the time mate. Ill be investing in another soon enough. Might try pick up a 200w one.

Would you not be better with a reflector for your 125w?


if you will be able to afford it id say go for 2 125w instead of a 200w far more light and only 50w extra on elec bill. CFLs spread alot more light hanging vertically without reflectors

I might just get another 125w and see were we go from there. Would it be better to get another reflector too or just let it free hang? I have a reflector on my other 125w.
 
Thanks for the input lads, will chill out on the watering jimmy, I only watered twice anyway but its coco and compost I'm using so I'm guessin it's holdin more than I can see, I watered cause the top quarter inch deep was dry, could that be the light? Gonna take the uvb out soon neway I was using it to get the seeds started then give it up to a mate looking to start a mini grow, never heard about that craic with the uvb before richie must get a look and see but it's goin perfect for me the past few months.

As for reflectors irishmc nah they concentrate the light in one direction and you have to hang them horizontal it's a whole balls for me to do, I'll stick with plain bulbs at least then I can put the light down to the same level as the plants, would another 125w make the difference to the plants and if so by how much (roughly) it might be worth me buyin another one, the weather outside makes me not want the UFO light now....buyin a car fuck that walkin craic in that cold.

It's not serious seeds I'm growin it's lowlife, happy with the results 5 feminized and 4 cracked so 80% success rate with their seeds :D
 
do you not have any perlite in the mix, id have about 30% for drainage. uv could be dryin the top of the soil, depends how warm it is.
another CFL would do wonders, and only bout 25quid so wont kill ye payin for it. them l.e.ds are overpriced shite in my opinion, your better of with the fluros. i your buyin a new 1 get in the blue spectrum and run it along side your red, makin sure to rotate the pots so all plants get good amount of both spectums. how did ye germ the beans mick?
 
Was gonna go for blue if I was buyin another neway maybe a red/blue mix if I'm gonna be doin autoflowers and red spectrum is for flowering then a full blue spectrum would be a wastle I think...could be wrong.

I just dropped them in a shot glass lined with toilet roll and filled up quarter way...germinated them in 2days the longest took 3.
 
a full blue will still do the business and i you decide 2 do full size plants, no need to buy another one. no harm in the purple spectrum tho. when germin in the future you should use some very fine sand paper or one of dem nail file things to scrape the outside of the seeds. near 100% success, just empty match box and glue the paper inside, put your seeds in and shake lightly before puttin in water, easyr for the seeds to soak up water.
 
Take it you downloaded/bought the cannabis grow bible aswell haha :D I got a pack of about 10 books off torrents a few months ago and read them back to front, some very interestin stuff in them. I was thinkin that about the blue spectrum ones but I duno if I'm gonna do full sized for another few months to a year but it depends on the quality of the ak's, have afghan kush auto and ak/blueberry lined up to try next, then all the new strains commin out will probably keep me doin autos for a long time. If I get my own place though I'll be doin full sized as I'll be lookin to do cannabis oil so I can do a Rick Simpson here in Ireland also and get a load of people to do the same, until then it'll be short and sweet grows.
 
If anybodys up for it in the next year I dare say we could make a few batches of this stuff and get it to people who need it and work from there but in the words of john lennon "some say I'm a dreamer" :D
