What were your questions?
1.with his style of growin can i use it in the form of a scrog.
2.can i skip the 6inch pots and use 4inch rockwool in hydroton
3. would a 600 be ok if u dont have a 1000w.
4. can i top the main cola at a young age. with a 4x4 flood & drain system can i put 4 plants in 1 sqf area.
5. co2 can be used in flowering only?
6.all branchies are cut off 1/3 of the bottom of the tree.
7. can a 600w be able to flower 40 sog?
8. how tall should i let them veg b4 i flower
9. what size fan should be used on the 6inch airhood and what size fan should be on the filther.
10. should i use a fan controler on the filther if so, how can i keep the co2 in the tent and keep the tent cool?
11. can i use a scrog with the same style of grow as if its a sog
12. what is the corect ppm for the clones at week 2 or 3 of veg

No you cannot use scrog as sog.sea of green is to fill up the space with clones so there is no space for anything else also you want to lollipop them so the branches dont get in the ways of other.
I think 40 plants is too much for a 600..

1. Al's set up is a SOG = Sea Of Green. That simply means it is a perpetual grow. If you were to do a SCROG which is SCReen Of Green you would likely have to have a net for each tray. It is possible but you lose the ability to transfer plants from tray to tray for cleaning, etc. But it is certainly possible.

2. You can do that type of setup but again you lose the ability to transfer plants from tray to tray.

3. Any size light will do but you will get fluffier buds/less coverage from a smaller light or lights

4. Doing a SCROG usually means using fewer plants and training them so you have alot more colas using LST. I guess you could top them but that is not usually used in combination with a scrog but again it is possible.

5. CO2 is most helpful in Flower but can be used at any portion of the grow cycle.

6. This only applies if you are lollipopping the plants.

7. Al B. Fuct was using 2 - 1000 W lights with 1 for every 2 trays. So you would be using 600 watts instead of 2000 watts. I dont think you could scrog that many plants with only 1 light.

8. Scrog is a training technique where you wouldnt let them get high before you started training them into a screen.

10. CO2 is typically used in a closed system or one which only needs to vent every so often. CO2 is one of the last things to worry about in a grow. I recommend getting everything else working and then using it to increase your yields.

9. Good inline fans should be purchased. I would get a 6" fan for the air hood and a fan the size of the filter intake for the other one.
10. Fan controllers are good for making fans quieter. You could put a fan on a timer if the temps would stay low enough and use CO2 but again, it would be the last thing you want to worry about in your grow.
11. This is the same as question 1.
12. Al changed his formulas through the threads he was posting. In the first portion of his threads he had different PPM's of solutions and eventually he moved to where he was feeding all trays the same mixture. PPM is one of the most misleading measurements in growing and if you dont have the CF (conversion factor) you will not know what the EC is. EC is a measure of PPM and is consistant across the board when referring to the amount of material in water. Ultimately though, unless you have purchased and are using Canna nutrients your PPM and EC will be different than Al's. Also, your medium will be different also possibly affecting nute strength. My suggestion here is to follow the manufacturers recommendations but start with 1/2 of their suggested feeding value and bump up the solution if you see deficiencies. Adjusting nute strength is more of an art than a science.

Hope that helped.

Yeah, He could use 4 trays like Al B Fuct's setup. Then he fills one tray every 2 weeks and harvests 1 tray every 2 weeks. The trays would have nets above them and he could LST the plants into a SCROG.

Now, the 600W light is a limitation.

I dont recommend a setup like this but it is certainly possible.

40 plants would be a NIGHTMARE to LST... And they would never fit under there... 4-5 per 3x3 tray tops I would think but I dont use that method so I am not positive.
thanks for ur help nlx, i went out a bought a 1000w system with a 8in fan pushing 740 cfm on the hood. the tray is 4x4 and i bought 4x4inch rockwool. i think i will try the one cola system. if i understand correctly 4 plants in one 12inch x 12 inch area with 4x4 in r/w. oh by the way, i only have one flowering tent thats the 4x4 tent with 1000w hood. the other tent i bought is a 2x4 that the mom and clone are in. and i also go the co2 now all i need is time .

I have to disagree, I top twice and then I LST and scrog, and (in my admittedly limited experience) it has provided better results than the averages I find here for growers of my experience. I got the "4-way" topping technique from LBH, I believe that he has posted on here now, if you look up his topping technique, you'd be nuts not to use it if you scrog....

How long does it take to veg your plants and do you have to keep them in veg while you are training them under the screen?

here is my plan, 4x4 table ebb&drain, i will use 4x4 r/w for every square foot there will be 4 plants with one cola. in week 3 of veg i will top the girls one time. i will then veg for one more week or until the girls are 12inches. at that time, i will then switch to 12on 12off, girls should be 3-4 feet when done. starting at week 4 or 5 i will turn on the co2. in the bed will be hydroton with 4x4 r/w. so what do u think

I veg for about a month; I flip to 12/12 when about 1/3 of the screen is filled, to allow for the stretch, and I continue to tuck under the screen until 1-2 weeks in when the buds actually get going.

He still posts.... Correct me if I am wrong.....
This was a post he wrote in October of 2008

Dear ladies and gents, I've been commenting and advising folks on growing their own cannabis via discussion forums since 1994, including 6 years (1999-2005) as a mentor on the now defunct but legendary Overgrow.com.

Not only is 14 years quite enough time spent on that voluntary pursuit, I have, unbeknownst to you, concurrently been a widely published albeit freelance and usually unpaid writer on several other topics including civil liberties, cyber-liberties, social justice and related matters.

Thanks very much to all the readers of cannabis boards who have been appreciative of my efforts over the years, but it's time to move on.

After many years of pounding away at it on my own, I've been finally been offered a paying gig as an editor for an advocacy group's website. Clearly, I can't tell you about the outfit which has hired me, for plain and obvious reasons. This work will consume all the time I have to date been available to comment on helping individuals with their cannabis grows.

I have unsubscribed from all RIU threads and this one will be closed in a day or so. I have confidence that the basic concepts I have been covering for some time here on RIU have been understood and practised by quite a number of folks and will be carried forth.

I wish you all the very best of luck, the very best of yields and hope that you will take the fight to re-legalise cannabis to the op-ed pages and legislators who perpetuate this oppression, which has bases only in political dogma, not science or commonsense. You will win if you just keep hammering, but I've hammered enough in this format. I will continue to fight this good fight, but just not here.

Keep your lights bright.

Cheers,

-Al B.
Maybe he has come back but if so I am not aware of it.
