3 year warranty?

The LED "industry" is full of people assembling generic LEDs into an assortment of different panels that are "the best", "using the best bulb" and "better than the cheap LED panels" ... but at the end of the day they are all just assembling generic LEDs that were not manufactured specifically for horticulture - some are just re-branding Chinese panels.
As just about anyone (with enough start-up capital) can start a similar business and create great web pages to bullshit buyers, the market is getting saturated.
I don't think that "assembled panels" of stoplight LEDs is the future of LED growing and I doubt that any business peddling the panels will be around in 3 years to honour any warranties.
Now that, sounds pretty damn accurate

Pretty cynical view Grumpy but I have to agree that the market is flooded with crap too. The flip side of that bad news is that more efficient light sources like LED and Plasma will continue to improve and get more affordable. For now though we all have to wade through an ocean of BS so threads like this one are very useful.

i feel like it is about 90w led puts out as much heat as a single 75w flur in the same space.

and 15 band led?? why???
im not running 15 band leds..... im going to run the 3-4 band leds in 90w to replace my hot cfl's. plus id like to try leds out so that if i like them i will be placing 2 sets in a grow tent i will be setting up in my new place. just trying to get hid replacements for a medium grow in the future. my babies are at 2 weeks old and are looking wonderfull and im just wondering what will go on if i switch over.

I just switced from cfl's to led in my sixth week of flowering and my plants loved it. Fresh white hairs appeared all over my two girls and they seem to be loving. Im using the blackstar led purchased from ebay.

I'm interested to see how well your new light performs. Did you get the ufo or the panel? I bought the 240w panel, but haven't used it yet. Kaptain Kron loves his, so there's a good testimonial.

One thing that concerns me is the uv band it uses. I bought some protective eyewear from HidHut, (I can't afford anymore eyesight problems). Not sure how damaging the frequency range is, but some uv can mess you up. I wish someone who knows more would speak up on this.

edit: btw I've seen the glasses I bought much cheaper elsewhere. I think it was Harbor Freight or Northern Tool.

Any UV protected sunglasses should eliminate any danger of UV eye injury. It would probably take looking directly at the UV diode to put you at risk. Regardless no reason not too use a pair of glasses. Vision is not to be trifled with. My vegg model of the 240 is doing very nicely. Heres a couple of pics I took this morning, 1/2. Would probably be 50% further along but my tent has been too cool at about 60 degrees.IMG_1603.jpgIMG_1602.jpgIMG_1599.jpgIMG_1596.jpg

A couple cfl lights in there would easily warm your tent up. My closet went from 77 degrees with led only to 86 degrees with only two 42watt cfl's Im using for my new clones.

YOu should never stare directly into any light period even a five year old knows its bad for their vision. Now that being said, as to what you said viagro with the UV yeah its a problem with these lights i wont let the homi go in without glasses and he yells at me when i forget. You come out after not havin glasses on and your not just seein spots like you might from accidentally lookin at a cfl your seein spots and everything has a mad green tint to it. Not cool for your vision. Wear some shades you should be fine most are UV protected now adays. If it can protect ur eyes from the sun it can protect em from your light.

Kapt Kron sorry if you do not like the info I have posted. It is the Only info currently available, including the lighthouse site for this particular panel. My initial numbers for the diodes were pasted from a memo victor sent to me. The pic is from Ebay listing by Gotham calling this a vegg-clone model. Cannot provide you with information that I do not have and yes you have been less than courteous. Leave it at that.

if you wear glasss or not under led being mostly red and blue your green vision kicks off as if you were in the dark then step into normal light and wham it's all green as normal vision kicks in basically red and blue light make your vision go into night vision mode whereas green light makes you jump into daylight vision.

I'm wondering if someone could explain to me the difference between these that claim being either tri or quad band. I'm wondering if there is enough difference as I am hanging one up soon and will be using it 100% of the grow.

it's the spectrums that the light spits out

tri or quad doesn't tell anyone which spectrums are being used though

a tri band could be red/far red/blue, maybe red/blue/white, maybe red/blue/ir

so without knowing which bands the tri or quad are talking about, it's hard for anyone to say
