i went to a mcdonalds one time and rolled up and ordered 3 double cheeseburgers, but I was like 50 cents short so I told the lady just cancel one of the double cheeseburgers..... so I paid and rolled up to the next window and still got my 3 burgers for the price of 2.... and you all are saying you would go back inside and give them back the burger? give your heads a shake

This is one of those things where it's probably objectively OK to keep the burger and you don't have to find a way to rationalize it to yourself. Japan obviously doesn't care about the inconvenience factor vs. the value of the cheeseburger in question. You realize most fast food places are on roads, and these roads require you to make a left turn out of the drive-thru exit then immediately make another left turn back into the establishment, then another left turn to go back around the drive-thru. Then sit there for another 0 to 10 minutes depending on how many other fats are at McDonalds that day. It's even more inconvenient to go inside the restaurant because then you actually have to look at the fat eyesores in the place.

Also, fast food establishments are required to throw food out after X amount of time. There is a high likelihood they just gave you the extra cheeseburger because they knew they would have been throwing it out otherwise. This also differs from the lightbulb scenario in the way that if you return a busted bulb it will probably get restocked and purchased by another customer, if you return the cheeseburger it will probably be thrown out. Not to mention some high school dropout working there will look at you as if you're the retard.

TL;DR, both of you are wrong. Sup- this is a lot different than intentionally fucking over a store for profit and possibly inconveniencing another customer in the process and you shouldn't have tried to justify OPs actions with cheeseburgeraments. Jap- you'd be an idiot to take the burger back, but to each his own.

I don't look at life that way. I live by a very very simple code. I don't do shit that I know is wrong, even if that means a huge fucking inconvenience to myself. But I'm the kind of guy who collects trash in his pocket all day because there are so very few public trash bags. I buy I stick of gum when I use a 7'11s toilet. I return wallets/pouches with money when I find them (yeah, 3 fucking times, 10k one time) and of course my wife and my friends think I'm a dumb-shit, but what the fuck do I care. What's right for me is right for me, it's selfishness it's it's most righteous, Morals, just not for breakfast anymore.

There is nothing morally correct about returning a 99 cent cheeseburger that will more than likely just be thrown out. Morals are based on common sense. If you feel it's morally correct to look like a McDonalds hero and drive all the way around just so they can throw out your cheeseburger, by all means feel free to, but it's pretty blatant that the only motive (other than lack of rationality) would be to feel good about yourself for "doing the right thing."

Jap no sense responding to you. If your interwebs persona aligned with your alleged RL persona this might be a discussion worth having, but as far as a majority are concerned you're simply a dickhead.

Hey man I totally understand that it's selfish, but stealing the food doesn't make it any better either. It's not just about the meat, well maybe for you it is. But yeah, here in Japan men carry around what kind of looks like women bags and they are filled with cash. It's a little different than America here, a lot of people are walking around with $1,000 just in their wallets let alone their second bag. What the fuck do they call those things?

Just the other day there was a jar-jacking and the guy got away with about $35,000 that the guy had on him. It's a safe country, people are richer and they walk around with a lot of money. I'm sure you know somebody that lost a wallet...now imagine they had money.

I would not feel at all bad about keeping that cheesburger. Shit, with all the fucked up orders I have recieved over the years Karma was bound to hook me up with a free burger! That is how I would look at it....

But I would not knowingly walk into a store with the intention of ripping them off. And if I did, It would be for ALOT more than 13 dollars...

And someone had said that you would not go to jail/prison for 13 dollars..... The hell you won't! People have been sent to prison for stealing a pack of cigs! Damn 3 strikes law!!!

I have kept fast food that was accidentally given to me. Usually I don't discover it until I am home. They cannot resell that food anyway, so I don't see any real reason to take it back. It's their mistake not mine. I would not try to cheat them out of a cheeseburger, but if an extra one falls in my bag oh well.

I did recently get an extra bulb in the mail. I ordered an all inclusive package with ballast, bulbs, etc. The 1000 watt MH bulb was busted in shipping. They sent another. After a couple weeks of not getting the bulb I recontacted them and they basically said they packaged it and forgot to ship it, it's on its way. A week later I ended up getting 2 separate bulbs in the mail.

I have not contacted the company back to let them know of their error. I don't really want to pay to ship a bulb back to them either. I don't really want to keep the bulb fraudulently though.

What should I do? Should I contact them and see what they say?

Ha! yeah. I would say I am still in the red when it comes to fast food orders. Seems something gets forgotten far more frequently than gets added. I never go back and complain either unless it's a major portion of the meal.

I'd let them know about the bulb and offer to ship it back if they cover shipping. Most likely they will let you keep it in exchange for the inconvenience they previously caused you. Glad at least a few people can look at the extra cheeseburger dilemma with logic and reason.

Yeah I just emailed the seller offering to ship it back if they provide a fed ex account or something. Hopefully they won't want me to bother shipping it back and risking breaking it. I would like to keep it, because hey, free bulb!
